My favorite strings are the Ernie Ball Not Even Slinky strings. I love these strings. I like a plain 3rd strings and that what you get.

I tune to drop B. thats B F# B E G# C#

I also just got some Power Slinky 5 bass strings for my Ibanez K5 bass. Havent put them on yet but Im sure they are great.

I use to be an Elixer only user, but a year ago I switched and dont think I will ever change.

What is the difference between Slinky Classic Rock n' Roll Strings and regular Slinky strings. I know the wrap is pure nickel on the Rock n' Roll strings, but how does that make a difference?

Do they sound different?

Do they last longer?

Do they make the frets last longer?

Thanks,

*Do they sound different? Yes, slightly warmer, fatter, softer, punchier.

*Do they last longer? No, I don't think they last any longer, certainly not any less.

*Do they make the frets last longer? No, same wear.

Thanks, backagain1

Back, Try and set and see the comparative difference - just a matter of preference.

I use Super Slinky's on my Luke and Regular Slinky's on my Sub, the bass gets Super Slinky bass. I've yet to try the EB classical and acoustic sets.

The new EB coated Hybrids are my new favorites, followed by anything else Hybrid especially the pure nickel Hybrids.

Right now it's the RPS Hybird Slinkys, but I have a set or two of the coated Titanium hybrids that will get a run through once my AL shows up.

Beefy Slinky 11-54 on my Jackson RR for D standard and Drop C.
Not Even Slinky 12-56 on my old Jackson RR for C# and everything below.
Skinny Top Heavy Bottom 10-52 on my kramer for E standard and Drop D.

I love these strings:) There is alot of good combinations (like the 11-54 set). That's the reason why I changed from DR to EB.

And I haven't broken a string yet! Maybe 1 time when I raise the Floyd Rose all the way up.

My fav is certainly the Beefy slinky set, I tune them to C standard ( C F A# D# G C) which gives me deep bass and the ability to bend fairly easy, the action is high-ish, but that only needs getting used to, you will be amazed at how fast one can play with this set up, and I don't even have a "fast" guitar, I have a LP special II, which really responds nicely to this treatment:D
