Favourite pickup??

I liked the stock pickups in my Axis SS when I first got it, but on further plays I grew to dislike them. I then installed some Bare Knuckle Warheads in, and stone me if it isn't the best sounding guitar I've ever played!

I still have the same switching options in the pickups and everything sounds fantastic! I'd recommend them to anyone and I believe they now have a place in the US that sells them...

Arghh. These threads always go exactly the same way ... everybody has a brand of pickups they like. And nobody's tried them all ...

i may not have tried them all, but i can say i have tried many. i think a lot of your opinion on the pickups rests on not only the pickup itself, but the wood used. if you stick a nice pickup in a $140 $quier str@t that is made out of plywood, its still going to sound like a $quier str@t, so i really do think your favorite pickup really depends on the guitar and the woods used to build it.

when i got my E$P, i was instantly hooked on the Duncan JB/Jazz set, sounds absolutely wonderful with the mahogony body and neck, and i also like this same setup with alder bodies. anyone ever seen the new Seymour Duncan Livewires?

hands down the custom wound dimarzio's in the EVH and axis guitars!
these are my all time favorites and i am real glad i figured out a way to make any tone zone into them since you cant get the custom wound ones without buyign the guitar!~:D
in my non EVH or axis guitars i use modded tone zones and regular nortons in the neck and it sounds just like my EBMM' loaded with diamrzio custom wounds!;)

Bare Knuckle Nailbomb.

It's very versatile and isn't the 'distortion' pickup that the name suggests.

If I had any change left over from my JP LE I would have bought a set of BAREKNUCKLE WARPIGS to go in it, they're absolutely amazing!!! Ain't no tone like it.

Well, you can still combine both passive and active pickups on a guitar.
Just need to sacrifice the tone knob for the volume knob, that means one volume pot per pickup.

Don't really know the science around this, but my guitar is set up this way.

Love the pups in my Axis too. My other guitar, a Godin SD has a Tone Zone in the bridge because the stock was very bland I thought and apparently it's the closest to the OE in the Axis.

I'm surprised no one has brought up the SD EVH '78 pup. I thought maybe someone would've mentioned it. Interesting.
