Every time I blend the piezo output on my JP6 (which runs through the PA) with my clean sound via the magnetic pickups into my amp. When you strike the perfect balance (using a VP Jr. pedal), the sound just makes you grin ear to ear.

There are so many to choose from, but for me it was definitely the first time I took my Bongo to a rehearsal and plugged it in. The "what *is* that?" faces quickly turned to "Oh my God!" faces when they heard it.

My favorite would be after OU's first jazz band concert when my mother came up to me and commented about the Bongo-"You know, that thing really sounds like a BASS."

Needless to say, I was pleased. :D

lots! open house was amazing!!!! dallas was a great time as well. but open house was the first time i met most of the guys here + the fact that we were at the factory and had the amazing allstar concert.

meeting Luke a couple time was a blast. not cuz he's fun to party w/, tho that's a given, but cuz he's a great dude with a lot of good things to say about music and a perma-"life is good" personality. also seeing him play in 2 "small crowd" situations really got me back into the guitar.

hearing about the HS Sterling being available soon is way up there.

first call w/ BP was awesome.

making some really dope friends. this forum and the folks involved have been good to me. its awesome

Mine was definitely when my eldest son was presented with a bass for coming out top of the class at the Bass Institute in London. The prize was a SUB4 kindly donated by main sponsors EBMM. Can't get better than that for me.

I'd have to agree with this one, except I think I used buy it now. And then going over to the guy's house to collect it, and seeing it for the first time. Then holding it for the first time. Walking out the door with it. And every time since I have opened the case.

Also during one of my rehearsals when the guitarist complemented my SR4 on the "meaty" sound it produced. MusicMan Stingray... NOT for vegetarians!

This is a cool story amongst cool stories. You must have been very proud!

Highlights for me have been popping open the case anytime a new Stingray arrives at my house. 3 of the 4 Stingrays I've owned have arrived this way, and it's thrilling every time. Most recently, when I popped the case & saw that honeyburst 'Ray, I almost fainted. :D

I have two, though neither moment was with "my" MM...

1st is the epiphany I had when I held a Sterling for the first time in my local GC - as Dave Jeffries mentioned in an alternate thread, if it don't FEEL right, it doesn't even get plugged in. I had picked-up basses for a very long time looking for "the one" and most of them never got past the feel test (i.e. never even plugged them in). The moment I held a Sterling I knew it was made for me. I didn't buy that one, and instead ordered one just the way I wanted one.

2nd was the Open House - meeting "the maker" as I remarked to everyone and getting an up-close-and-personal experience with the entire build process, including hearing first-hand the stories and history of EBMM was fabulous and certainly cemented my relationship with this fine company.

This was a long time ago, but I used to have an old all tube SVT rig (sold it long ago... oops) and the first time I could really crank that thing up at an outdoor gig with my Stingray - yeah, that's some tone! Rattled my kneecaps too.

First practice with the 5H Bongo 06 LE was a good one too. Moment #1 when I opened the case and got a lot of ooh's and ahh's from the other guys in the band. Second was actually plugging it in to the amp because until then I had only heard it thru headphones. I bought the 5H based only on what I'd read about it and only tried out a 5HH at Guitar Center. You guys were right about that single H!

Like brewer, I met my wife at a gig with my white SR5. Well, I met her at work but she started coming to my gigs when I was playing ol' whitey. Knew she would be my wife then. Wish I could say I've played 3-4k gigs though!

Most other cool moments have been on record with that tone. Ever since I walked out of American Music I've never coveted another bass. How 'bout that for an old cliche?;)

It's got too much personal history to sell it; I'd be losing a significant part of my soul.

Finally getting my hands on my new 2005 Ltd buttercream Stingray ...

my girlfriend bought it for me as a 40th birthday pressie :)

but my 40th was in March this year and we got the Stingray in January as I spotted the buttercream / tort combination and had to have THAT bass!

Which unfortunately meant that my girlfriend (who has cruelty down to a fine art :) ) wouldn't let me play the bass (or even to open the case up) until March 27th :(

So it was sitting there - all cased up - for 2 months before I was allowed to play it, so actually opening that case up and plugging that bass in and playing it is definitely my fave EB moment!
