Finally got to play a SS this weekend. Found one in store when I was visiting friends. All I have to say is WOW!! I have played the Axis before (and played it again since they had one next to the SS) and I already liked it. I am getting a SS in the future. The only thing I am going to have to decide is if I am going to get it with piezos. I am not crazy about the lack of a switch for going between piezos and magnetics. It looks like you have to use the volume knobs to do that. Not very practical. Either way, I am getting a SS. White pickguard, carbon blue finish, maple fretboard. I am going to have to have the pickups changed to an Air Zone and a Fast Track 1 in the neck. That will also require the pots to be changed from 250k to 500k. All I need to do is get my house sold (I am moving) and I should have some free cash. I may just decide to skip the piezos since I have a Parker Fly Deluxe, and I can get an Axis SS with piezos later on. You don't think EB will drop the tone knob on the Silhouette Special and put in a 3-way switch for the peizos (like the Axis SS piezo) if I asked them, do you?

I found a '52 USA reissue Tele. Gonna get it, but have to wait till this whole strike thing at my job is over. Anyhoo, this thing plays great and sounds great. Can't wait to add it to the collection.

I'm working on a deal that will see me turn the $$ from the PRS sale into an EB/MM EVH - looks like a sweet guitar, I'm going to check it out this week...

David T. McNaught G-5 is my next one. For the MM, it will be a Petrucci as usual. Just have to decide on color. :D

I'm currently eBaying a ton of CDs, rock memorabilia and stuff I don't look at/use/listen/want to finance a new amp. I don't want to part with my Peavey 5150 but need something more flexible....

Although I'd like to check out an Engl, I'm pretty close to getting a Laney VH100R. I've just about scrapped enough cash for it!

As for a new guitar, I'll be trying a SUB1 when they come over to the UK. Other than that, at the moment I'm hankering for a hollow body Tele, a friend of mine has one and for certain songs we do, it would be sweet!

Don't know how the Sub 1 guitar sounds like. But I can't wait to try one but it still isn't available in Europe.
Today I've tried an Ibanez S470DX (yeah, I know, I've disappointed y'all) with the new Zero Resistance tremolo. Nice guitar........

Hey congrats on the '53 RI Simon - they're sweet little guitars... I'm off to see my EVH tomorrow, and if I'm likin' it, I'm buyin' it...

Oh, and DML, it's a little known fact that I have my own Ibanez signature model...

the custom Ibanez Jim

Well, I went off to see the EVH today - This deal has been in negotiations for like 3 weeks, and I was paying a little more than I wanted to for the guitar, but the seller said it was "MINT", and I figured that seeing it before I buy was worth something, so I drove 90 miles to check it out... Anyway, I get there and the thing has seriously worn frets (2, 3, 4 and 5, anyway), a filthy neck, one of the bridge saddles is replaced with one that's brass colored and doesn't even look like the others, and to top it off there are about twenty little dings and chips all around the back edge of the guitar! I tell the guy that I don't want to pay the agreed price and he stares at me like a deer in the headlights and says "You're kidding, right?"

Sumnabeech! I just got in my van and drove away - didn't even make him a lower offer; there was no point anyway since dickering with him for weeks over price prior to this had no effect... Any of my Axes had nicer tops than this guitar, and they are certainly in better condition! What a waste of time....

Sorry to hear you go through the trouble JimiD. I go through it every now and then when someone tells me they have a Blue Dawn Pet and it is not the BD color. Mostly Pacific Burst (?) I believe is the color. Still looking though. The drive back was probably the longest....sounds like you were ready to cough up the cash.:(
