What kind of finish is this?

I found this picture of Steve Stevens playing an Axis. What kind of finish is that? Very cool, weird. Kind of hard to really tell exactly what it would be. Does anyone know?

My bad on the EVH part. It was the way the light was hitting it that goofed me up. Very cool. I have seen a bunch of pics of SS with both EVH's and various Axis. Thanks for clearing that up for me.

I want a trans black Axis soooo bad! Almost had a trans black BFR Axis a couple of years ago, but some funny stuff happened with the sales guy, so I passed on it.
One of these days.
