I just purchased this bass. I walked in to the store and said "do you have any fretless five-string basses" expecting the usual answer, "no way man." However, for once they had one. I played it for about ten minutes and it was love. I shouldn't really be buying expensive musical instruments right now, but this bass was too nice. Anyway, it has five knobs. I can tell that they are from neck to bridge...

1. Master volume
2. ???
3. Treble
4. Midtones
5. Bass

What would you call the second knob? It makes the bass quieter. But it isn't a volume knob like the one next to it. When I turn it all the way down, there's still sound coming from the bass.

Sorry about the poor-quality photo. I don't have good photo conditions at the moment.

I would appreciate any info on this instrument.

Thanks,

E

Hmmm. Perhaps it is the magnet/piezo pan?

Anyway, welcome! Bootiful bass!

Edit: Also, I'm guessing you'll have to adjust the gain on the piezos if they're too quiet? Piezos are a mystery wrapped in an enigma to me.

It will have a piezo pickup on the bridge. Centre detent(?) will be equal pickup and piezo, all the way up clockwise will be pickup only, all the way back counter clockwise will be piezo only and points in between will be various blends of the two.

I think!???!

Thanks. Yes, I like the unlined look. I wasn't really hip to the whole Stingray scene until I encountered this bass. The look, sound, and workmanship really knocked me out.
