Hey guys,

I'm going to see Toto on 21st May. I've seen them MANY times before but never in my home country. I can't believe they are actually playing in my hometown, Glasgow, just 5 miles from my house!!!

Thought it might be a good idea to bring along the trem plate off my DD and get Luke to re-sign it, because the signature is half rubbed off now.

I'd be grateful if anyone could tell me which type/brand of marker EB recommends to use for this? Obviously I want this to last as long as possible, so the more permanent the better. Also I'd prefer it to be a silver marker.

Thanks! :)

When we have Luke and JP autograph our SBMM instruments for promotions, I use Sharpie Paint Pens, Medium Tip, Metallic Gold or Metallic Silver. The paint is Oil Based, and holds up excellent. If you are having him sign the backplate, you can then clear coat over the signature so it holds up even better.

Ah man, dont have him sign your trem plate cover, thats so cheesy haha. Bring your guitar!

I saw eddie van halen a few years ago and brought a pickguard, and he wouldn't sign it. I asked him why, and he said "Its nothing on you, I know a fan when i see one. The problem comes if you ever get rid of the guitar, people will simply take the guard off and sell it, it happens all the time trust me". I was bummed but I understood. He then signed a coffee cup and gave it to me haha. I think they want the signature to mean something, not just some paraphernalia.

Thanks for your replies, Sharpie Paint Pen it is then!

@Bob, no worries man I get what your saying. Luckily Luke & I have history going back over 10 years now so I'm sure he'll make an exception. :)

I got Luke to sign my Luke II trem cover in 2009, and I took a Pilot Silver Marker (Extra fine point). Worked great. Of course I asked him to sign the inside, not the outside so it won't get erased.

This is the ideal Luke pen. Help me Steve Lukather, you're my only hope. :D
