whatever you feel most comfortable with , i like using standard medium picks and also like the eric johnson jazz III picks. I just went through all the different picks and eventually found what I liked. if you can get a hold of some the ernie ball picks are pretty good.

I completely agree that it is usually best to use the most comfortable pick you have. However, certain picks are better for certain things. For instance: a soft pick is best for strumming the full set of strings, while a thicker pick is good for a song that uses mainly single string sequences. Bass players usually play pretty simple stuff involving only one string at a time. Because of this I prefer a very thick pick. But I always keep my stash full. It's just like how there are different types of paint brushes.

thanks for the input guys. i was thinking heavy because thats what i used back in the day because i friend of mine used them. i see EVH like the .60m. i think ill start somewhere in the middle and go up. i remember tearing light guage pick on the strings and could not solo very well with them. it was like they made me slow.
