So my Jp6 is looking a bit grubby now. Got it in March and I have used regular furinture polish on the body which keeps it clean and makes it somewhat shiny. But i was looking at the first couple of vids i made of it and boy, you could just swim in that finish!:) And, I find the mystic dream effect isn't so ermmm, dreamy when the body isn't as shiny as a mirror. So what do you guys use?

I have heard there's an EB guitar polish. But, just in case it's hard to get hold of any what can I use instead? I even wondered about using turtle wax like I do on my car. But I'm thinking that would damage the finish.

First I use a warm wet old soft towel to wipe down the body down. Not too wet but wet enough to wipe fingerprints and dirt off Make sure when and if you do this you dont get and water by the cavities. (Pickups, knobs, inputs, switches, ect) After that I use Ernie Ball guitar polish. I think it's some really good stuff it gives the finish a nice luster and shine. If you cant get the EB polish, Ive heard a high quality autoi polish works. Nothing with grit though. Ive never tried the car polish Ive heard a few people here say that it works well.

Hope this helps

I’ve said this before on the forum. Layers of wax/polish only dullens and smears the finish after awhile. The more goop you add to it the more of a problem it will become. I’d clean it with a slightly damp warm cloth every so often (you could also use a little mild dish soap), finish with clean, dry cloth. Eventually the shine should return.

Standard commercial furniture cleaner/wax/oil is probably the worst thing to use. Most contain petroleum distillates (read: kerosene), which can soften the original finish, and effectually you rub dirt into the softened finish.

My advise: keep your guitar clean and throw away all polish, polishing cloths, silicone and petroleum based products.

Respect the original finish!

ebmm polish IS the best............
seems kind of a no-brainer to me........being as they take such good care to make such a killer line of guitars.........why wouldn't they get the best polish they can find ???????????? ..:)

Dunlop Canruba cream/wax/ Man's mayo.....

Looks like it was preduced in a lab if you know what I mean!!!

Only minor issue is when you do your maple necks with it, it leaves a tide mark on the frets...... but super clean every time.

Nohin' better than discussing over the internet via a corporate network with keystroke recording and a bunch of cool guys about polishing balls!
