Gotta go with the classic if it was the only one, the HS is a close second though.

On what bass?

BTW, I have to wait a couple of weeks for my SR4HH to arrive until I can answer this honestly... but so far that's a tough one. I'm generally all for classic configurations and tend to stick to it (i.e. StingRay 4 H), but I have to admit that I very much like the tonal options I get from the SR4 HS. OTOH, moving your picking hand plus the 3 band EQ yields a ton of tonal options on the single humbucker as well.

I can't choose. I honestly just cannot do it.

Maybe I will when I own one.

Well you can't really go wrong with any of them, I have an H/H, H/S and the single H and all of them have their own vibe, but it's all good! For me I really like the single coil, I usually solo it. I'd like to have a S/S Sterling! It would be so helpful if you could play all of the configs to see which one speaks to you. You can't really put this stuff in words.

Good luck in your search.

HH all the way for me...I'm actually looking to make my whole arsenal either HH or HS. I feel that I get a much wider tonal pallette with the HH. I'm not a slapper or popper player either. Just finger picking for me.

HH has become the new standard for me. Being one of about 2 or 3 guys in the Fl. panhandle area who knows and, even enjoys, the bass's function in popular music-Iget called for most of the recording work(and live as well) in a 60 mile radius. Every position is a winner, but my ear has found a fondness for the 2nd position(from the bridge). You can liken it to a jazz bass kind of vibe, great attack, fat, and very clean.Anyway,it works great for me,and the people who hire me. All the best to everyone,Michael

Single H

I had to go with the H, since that is what I have. I have played one SR4 HH but opted for the Sterling 4H. There does not seem to be too many HS equipped EBMM's around these parts to try. From what I read as well as the single coil options, if I was to look for another addition I would probably opt for the HS version.

Hmm..HH on my Ray4 for me, Just a no-brainer and the only bass I play live now. I mean, more is more and if I want the H..there's that switch. That front pickup makes it a bass in another class...like 'advanced class'..!
