So, the Les Paul is as good as gone. I hope the sheep who buys it loves it as much as I did before I was enlightened by EBMM.

So I know I'm going to buy another EBMM guitar, but I'm not sure which one I want to buy first. The logical choice would be a 25th since presumably they're only being made this year, but I'm not sure if that's what I really want. And I have 3 Petrucci's now, so I want it to be something else.

I have narrowed it down to 4 choices and I would like the rest of the forumites to help me decide. I know I won't be disappointed with any of them, so here we go:

1. 25th Anniversary
2. Axis Super Sport
3. Silhouette (I'm a big guy...this might look silly on me)
4. Y2D

I'd say play all of them to see what you like the feel of. The 25th/Silhouette have similar necks. Both of those are not too dissimilar from the Y2D (it's thinner). The Axis is smaller still, more of a departure.

I'm voting Y2D 'cause I think you'll probably get on with the neck and it's a killer guitar.

That said ... you've already got three HH guitars in the arsenal. Interested in something with single coils or MM90s in there for a bit of a change? If so, you might also consider the Albert Lee or Silhouette Special. (Or Luke, but if you're big you might find the neck too small.)

I've played the Axis and Silhouette. They feel different, but are both definitely more comfortable than the LP. I wouldn't mind single coils, though it's not something I have too much experience with. I've heard wonders about the 25th and the couple of videos I've seen make the guitar really appealing. I've also been thinking of a regular Morse...but Purple Sunset on the Y2D is killer.

What ever you choose will be good because they are all great, but i choose the Y2D because i have always been a Morse fan and i have heard so many great things about this guitar, and of course i want one too....

I'd say the 25th...for the sheer fact that it is a one of a kind, but I would go with the A.S.S. I have one and I personally think it smokes an LP (I've played both). The tone and versatility of the Super Sport would be a nice contrast to a JP...as well as compliments what you already have...replacing and improving upon what you eliminated.

Yeah im in this predicament at the moment trying to decide what guitar to buy next.
Im thinkin the 25th because its here only once but it has humbuckers and im kinda of thinking getting a singlecoil silo next maybe.

Colin,

Yes it has hums but has a five way selector switch and a series paralell switch trust me you can get single coil sounds out of the 25th as well lots of growl and everything else you might want, i have really been trying to avoid saying this but here goes, makes a LP seem tame, less weight, more options more tonal possibilities and yes you can get that sound as well, I have had my hands on lots of EBMM guitars and this one is the best of the bunch, all are great but well 25th rules:cool:

I'm eventually going to get each of the guitars I mentioned. I've got a bit until the LP sells. Hopefully I'll be able to get what I want. There's a 25th at DCGL I've got my eye on...

I am a really tall guy too, and the Silhouette feels just right. Don't let it's size keep you from playing an awesome instrument.

I'm not so much tall as I am wide...though I've been hitting the gym lately to counteract this eating habit of mine... :D

Thanks for all the responses, guys!

I just e-mailed Pete asking if all of the 25ths are accounted for. I know he had been selling them out before they arrived...

Naturally, because of all the hype and great reviews, the 25th is my top choice, but the Y2D is a close second. I'm having trouble finding a Y2D, though...

The real question at this point is whether I'll get enough out of the Les Paul for a 25th...if not, then I think it's a Y2D if I can find one from a good dealer.

If you want to replace the LP, get a used 20th Silo, which is also the middle ground between the Silo and the 25th. With that said, I love my Silo to death and would recomend it to anyone. I'm also quite tall, it doesn't look small, just ergonomic.
