I am a big MM fan btw...I have two Stringrays. LOVE their tone, and how they feel. The funk comes alive with these basses.

But, I have just decided to move to central London, and I need a smaller cab setup. I am a bit of a collector, and I have a fair few medium sized cabs.

What small cabs fit well with a Markbass Littlemark 3? Should I stretch to Bergantino AEs/HT with EX ERs?

Any views from anyone?

Thanks

Gareth

Consider the Markbass New York series... 2x 604s probably could injur something. The 121 is great too. The 151 will be out soon too. Very portable/small and sound great.

Epifani UL2-112 & Bergantino AE112 both get my vote

The Epifani DIST series look interesting but I've not tried them.

My ampeg portabass 2-12 works well with my f1. I had a 1-12 ampeg portabass that was amazing for 5 and 6 string basses. I needed more volume though.

Well...I already have the medium sized cabs....eg Aguilar DB212s (x2), Orange cabs to go with my Orange AD200b Mk3, and recently a Bergantino HS410.

I want something TOTALLY different. I want to be able to use one cab on its own with the 1x12 (x2) setup for quiet gigs, then add the other when its louder.

I nearly went ahead with more Aguilar DBs....but I already have enough of them.

I want the best 1x12 (x2) setup basically.

The cabs will be used from everything through pick style rock/punk, finger style funk and a little slap...not much.

I use mainly 4 string basses, but Im going 5 with the next one.

Im thinking the AE112s might be right, as they are neo, and i have NO neo cabs, but the HT112ER + EX112ER is tempting me in!

Im not looking for huge volume, just amazing tone.

I still have to recommend the New York 121's.... check their tone to see whether it suits you, but they are very loud and EXTREMELY portable. If you have not checked them out or played through one, go to your local GC and check it out. I think they compliment the LM heads very well. If they don't have a stand alone check the CMD 121p combo... basically the same but the cab has an attenuator for the tweeter and has a bit more depth because of the space not taken up by the head. I really was blown away.

set this up as a linear cost function and it will be fairly easy to solve for "the best", being a basic optimization problem and all.

I have a MB NY121 and I think I'm going to send it back. Next to all my other cabs, it's a very compressed/boxy sounding cab. It is fairly light but it just doesn't give me the sound that I like.

The LMIII with a Bag End S15-D sounds really good though. :)

Acme. There can be only one. :D

To be less vague, I have owned a pair of acme 210s for 5 years and they are a stellar cab. Light, stiff (genius internal bracing) and sound like no other cab out there. Highly recommend them, I do.

This is what I decided on-
NewRig07-2.jpg

Works well in the variety of small situations I find myself in-

...and will keep up with a mature drummer-

...since you're already familiar with the Aggie sound, their 2x12's would be(well, were) my 2nd choice-

Since you are already using a Musicman bass, no real need for a preamp. I played this rig about a year ago and it was outstanding. Maybe one day when i have a need for it i will invest in it. JOSH

I am currently running the older HT112 and EX112 Bergantino 1x12" cabs with my LMII and like them. You can use one or two depending on the situation and they are very compact and relatively powerful. The newer ER versions are slightly bigger. I would go with the AE112s now if I had to buy again, just for the additional weight savings (about 10 lbs).
