What Strings for CLEAN sound

I am getting back into playing and need some advise on strings. I have a G&L S-500 guitar and am looking at EB String model 2255 or 2225. Not sure what the main difference is? I like to play instrumentals like Walk don't run by the Ventures, Tornatoes,etc. Which would be be a cleaner sound set of strings? Mind you my fingers are not calloused. I think to start with the 8's then go up as needed.

Hi! The Classic Rock'n'Roll set (2255) have a vintage-correct pure nickel wrap on the wound strings. That will sound a little warmer than the Extra Slinkys (2225) which are nickel-plated steel wrap on the wound strings.
