What style of Music / Currently playing with a group?

I play in a couple of bands these days: The Space Heaters, a 7-piece funky-rock-jamming band that does our own stuff plus an odd assortment that ranges from Meters to Traffic to Susan Tedesci to Prof. Longhair to the Dead....

and the Beaks, a more folk-rock crew that tends towards Richard Thompson, Lyle Lovett, Nanci Griffith, and whatever else people get excited about. This is a band of friends that has played off and on for 25 years!

..and I was playing in a jazz quartet, which was a stretch but fun, but sadly no longer happening.

plus whatever anyone calls for. That's what's cool about bass -- it's needed everywhere.

Im not in a band now but ive always played in bands with a sound somewhere between Green Day and Slayer. I'm looking for a new band to combine those 2 types of sounds now.

I'm playing in a blues band called The Model Citizens. We also do some jazz standards, but it's fun stuff like Grant Green and Wes Montgomery. One BBQ place we play likes us to close out the night with "Back in Black," too.

Besides the blues band, I've been thinking about looking for something else for the nights the blues band isn't gigging.

Once you get to blues and jazz you have a life time of music ahead of you. I am trying to get there. It is all fun to play. Jazz is the ultimate for a musician.

I currently play in what is described down here as a "party band" playing rock covers from today back to the 60's. Most of the tunes we cover are recent or current hits, with a sprinkling of great retro songs.

We started off as Micky Kemp and the Shystars, but then Micky went solo and the band split. Now I just play bass for him on an occassionally regular basis.

It's mostly his self-penned material but influenced by "The Boss", Steve Earle, Tom Petty, Tom Russell, Neil Young, Johnny Cash and God knows who else. Great fun. Just done a weeks UK tour supporting Joe D'Urso and the Stone Caravan all the way from New Jersey. April we're supporting "Hot Rod Lincoln" Bill Kirchen.
