Hello, all!

I have a lovely Musicman Bongo 5HS (2007 Limited Edition, have you know!) and I'm looking for something to compliment it. I'm currently doing a tonne of gigs ranging from your Top 40 lot to Jazz and everything in between. I'm going to be looking for something that can cover a whole variety of things and is a 5 banger. I'm eyeing up something like the Reflex or a 5HH Bongo but I'd love to see what you fine fellows have to chime in. Thanks for reading. :)

If you want alot of versatility the big al is woth taking a look at. But the dual H stingrays, sterling, bongo and reflex have some great tone options too.

When I think of compliment I think of opposite. I like to have a bass thats markedly different than the other so if thats what you're shooting for I'd recommend a maple Sterling with an ash body. Bongo = Warm, Sterling with maple = Aggressive

Now if by compliment you mean similar then the Rosewood Reflex or Big Al will both be similar to the Bongo & on the warmer side

Welcome to the forum, Chunky. How do you feel about a fretless? There's a nice StingRay 5'er on the for sale thread here.

Great for jazzy stuff, especially a Boingo 1H-piezo FL4 in black.

Acoarst they do come in other colors but I can't offer first hand
endorsement beyond the black :) But really tho, black partially
hides the crazy Boingo shape. People do listen with their eyes,
and many jazz fans have ignorant conservative prejudices. So,
a black PG on a black body is also helpful for that same malady.

I have various piezo FL EBMMs, and there are minor differences
among them, but the 1Hp Boingo is "more different". It's got a
sweeter voice. The piezo option is not cheap, but on the Boingo
1H-piezo you also get the 4-band EQ. Non-piezo 1H Boingos get
the 3-band, so you do get something extra when you shell out
the extra sheckels for the piezo.
