I'm new to the EBMM community but fell in love with music man guitars when i saw Joe Bonamassa live a few months ago and he played a Y2D on India/Mountain Time. I just thought it would be interesting to hear more experienced music man players tell their story.

You mean when did we first hear about them/see them or when did we first like them or decide to buy one? I remember playing a JP7 right when they came out and the neck was super nice. Before then I had played their basses a lot and always liked the growl of a stingray. Especially a really early pre-EB one a friend had.

I was inspired by EVH, who I was a huge fan of (still am) when I first started playing. I loved the sound and look of them the best of any guitar he's played. Then I got Dream Theater's Live at Budokan DVD, and I recognized that headstock, so I became interested. Fast forward a few months and I'm bored one day, so I asked my dad to take me to Guitar Center to play around with stuff. So we went and I saw that headstock again, this time on a rosewood ASS. I played it and instantly fell in love with the look, feel, and tone. After playing a few different models I found that I like the JP the best, but I still hope to own a Rosewood ASS one day.

That is what made me decide to buy one haha

Oh I see what you mean I just loved everything about the guitar, it's perfect for the kind of music I play and the sound and feel I want. And it looks badass too! Plus the quality is awesome, set up perfectly out of the box, the only adjustment I've ever made in the 2 years I've had it is changing from 10s to 9s, which I did pretty early on, and I haven't tweaked anything else.

I mean what made you decide to buy one. Sorry I wasn't clear enough

Neck feel and playability for me. That and the features are just what I want in with craftsmanship that is a step above some other brands in the 7 string market. If its between an Ibanez and a MM for a 7 nowadays Im much more likely to go for a MM than the Ibanez.

Steve Morse respectfully suggested I try one at a clinic. I tried one and it took.:)

I lucked out, found my Silo on Ebay after playing on a starter strat for a few months, at the time I literally thought Petrucci was god and I knew he played EBMM, and at the time I had no idea how different the 2 were but I didnt care once I got it I thought it was pure sex and now I have the real JP to compliment it

Back in 1991, the EVH model is how I was first made aware of EBMM guitars. It was probably a year after that before I got to actually play one. As soon as I did, I knew that I had to have one. Two years after that, I had saved up enough to buy one. Then came a Silo, then a Morse , ...

I was drawn to the EVH right from the first time I saw one in 1991. It was the most beautiful guitar I had ever seen. I knew the chance me owning one was zero because they were not available left handed...so I admired from afar.

Then the Axis Super Sport came along and finally in 2006....I got the guitar I've been waiting for...it was worth the wait!!!

I was at a Guitar Center one day and just picked up a LUKE guitar. I was totally blown away with how good it felt. It took me a few years to actually buy one, but when I first played my Silhouette Special I was totally hooked. I have since sold or traded my other brands and got a few more EBMMs.

I love the neck profile of the EBMM guitars I have played. What got me to buy one was hearing them coupled with the amazing price of the Sub 1 (quality/tone/feel/price is unmatched in my experience). I quickly learned, from there, that 1 is never enough.

My 2nd EBMM guitar will be in my hands tomorrow. Oh yes.

EVH. Had a Kramer way back when, then I saved for a used EVH. Loved it, but just couldn't justify the money I spent to get it. Sold it (no loss in $$), always remembered the feel of that neck. LPs, Strats, Hamers, came and went. Picked up an Axis along the way and always compared everything to it. Finally wised up and stopped struggling with widths, profiles, and weight. I went with what felt right, that was the Axis. Everything else is gone but what is in my sig.

Playing my guitar teachers Luke sold me on them. We're both heavily into Lukather and Toto so I asked him if he's ever tried Luke's guitar. Next guitar lesson he brought out his Luke and it was fantastic :).

Not what, but who: Steve Morse in 1998. Heard him on Deep Purple's "Live at the Olympia", and then saw them in Cologne the following year - that did it!

It was an accident. I never intended to purchase one but tried a Sub and bought it. I didn't know anything about it, but I knew I had to have it. Somehow I got tricked into buying these other ones too. :p
