Due to something that happened in shipping to an item I was waiting on for over two years I learned about the ups and downs of polyester paint. I did some research and learned that many types of paints are used on guitars and the differences in feel, how durable, and what can be done when repairing. Quite interesting actually.

So, I was curious - what type of paint is used on the Bongo?

Nail polish - that is an idea. I was also told that paint places for cars have some way of making paint. Something to paint the screw tips with if you remove the pickguard and put slight smaller (and longer0 screws in the holes.

I was guessing it was polyester by the feel - and also one day I was dumb and banged the headstock against the sharp steel edge of a rackmount item. It left a mark that you can only see up close - so very tough paint. That area is matt so polishing it out won't due.

Polyester requires refinishing the whole piece - while other paints allow cold repairs. But as tough as it is it looks like you can also avoid repairs. I am glad EBMM used it.
