Seriously I got the P bass in today, you know the one I was flamed for posting and..... Yay killer pick tone and sure it feels GREAT and is SUPER SEXY but finger tone is just like.. Yea whatever... I mean it has no character, its just pure bass. Which isn't bad but I can get that out of any bass.. I have to admit the action and the frets felt better than my stingray but something tells me the age18[yr] + lots of playing really got to it.. Two things this bass has is LOOKS and FEEL.... And I guess picktone but im sure a NEW MM would sound just as good.

I got this bass at 10:45 last night and was amazed by the looks and feel.. Just something about that neck, I HATE rosewood but this Rose wood looks soooo good. But it still doesn't compare to the sound of my ray..

I have to get a ray soon. Im not sure if I will sell this bass or not, I was going to keep it and buy a ray a little later but just blew a speaker in my cheap 2x10 avatar so Im going to get a 6x10 or 8x10 Ampeg....

Guys why didn't you tell me how STUPID I was before I bought the thing... :(

I got nothing but love for P basses as long as someone else is playing them, and this from a guy who played Precisions for YEARS.

And now look at me.

i have an old PJ (my first bass ever) and ive modded the hell out of it. irts on its 4th set of PUPs, has a jretro, a baddass, a new neck etc. nothing except the body is stock.

its a pretty good bass. id put it up against a USA P any day and have... i traded some guitar for a USA P a few years ago and the beater post mods was "better" so the P went out on a trade towards a 2nd sterling (my BC)

when it down comes to it its not for me... its just not my tone. its too boring and "standard" for me. the MMs on the other hand are perfect... especially those sterling things. now when i want a P tone i bust out the HS Sterling and solo the neck. it gets a great P tone a la Mike Dirnt on the American Idiot album

I love the one tone nob on a P-bass.
All the way to the left, "Beefy!"
All the way to the right, "What the Hell am I suppose to do with THIS?!"

Exactly the tone is soo boreing, its just blah, its like THE Signature bass guitar sound. Its a GREAT all around bass guitar I think its actually the BEST all around bass for any style of music. But I just much rather my Stingray over the P, the stingray has so much more character. No bass can compare to a stingray, there I said it.. Tho I have noticed that warwicks sound very similar at least to me, I don't like the whole wooden look.

Let this be a lesson learned for EVERYONE!! If you even THINK you like your tone, which I knew I loved the stingray tone, don't get something else.. Unless you can keep the one you have at the moment..

Long live the Stingray

hehe before i got my stingray for the first time i was confused whether to get the stingray or the rick. i like both of them, looks and sound. but eventually i thought that stingray is a good all rounder - in live and in studio
