There are a lot of really interesting stories here. It's great to see what everyone started their musical journeys with and where they are today. I think we all made the right choice with EBMM(obviously). Thank you to everyone who shared!

Watkins Rapier 44 - couldn't afford an amp straight away - eventually got an impact 60 tube amp and four 12 inch Fane speakers housed in two 2 x 12 cabs.

Well, the guitar that I put in all my formative playing years on is my Dad's 1965 Fender Jaguar. However, my first own guitar was my 2007 EB/MM JP7, piezos, inlays, matching headstock, Mystic Dream. Sadly, I had to sell this guitar to help finance my first house, and I'm back to playing the Jaguar again.

My 1st guitar was a USA built black Peavey Raptor and I played through a little Crate amp with a DOD Supa Distortion pedal. I still have that guitar buts its been all modded out with Seymour Duncans and covered in stickers. Its a good guitar that has held up lots of abuse from my adolescents and teen years. Back then I never changed strings, did not have a stand or any kind of case for it so it just hung out under my bed or in the corner of my room. It was about 17 or 18 that I decided to take playing guitar seriously. Went through Les Pauls, Strats, back to Les Pauls / SGs, to a PRS to finally EBMM guitars where I have been since and plan on staying for a while.

I was introduced to Music Man guitars back in 99-00 at the Vans Warped Tour where I saw this ska band The Hippos and their frontman / guitarist was using a red Silhouette or Silhouette Special. Then a few years later I saw Chris from Less Than Jake playing a Axis Super Sport so i was intrigued. It took me until about 08 until I picked up my 1st music man. It was a used Silhouette Special and had a lot of wear and tear from the previous owner touring with it but it felt so amazing I could not pass it up. Ever since then I was hook!

Nice! Looks damn close to my Supro ... also a pig to play.
Long gone I'm afraid beej but it was exactly the same as John Lennon's which I believe sold for over 250K not bad considering they were 15 Guinea's brand new back in 1954.

Well my first guitar was my Ovation Ultra wich i still have..
Have been a Steve Lukather fan for years and after i found out i'd rather play electric guitar
i wanted a Luke..
Couldn't afford one and bought a EBMM Sub1... I really really loved this guitar and started to
save for a Luke which i really wanted..
Ordered a Luke in candy red, and while waiting for this one they had a used BFR Luke BBB for sale
in the local guitar store Kees Dee.. Talked to my wife and she said oké if you really want that
Luke BFR, then buy it.. It's your dream so pursue it..
And here we are.. Still have all three guitars and i am very happy with them and hope to save
enough money to buy yet another EBMM!! Haven't told my wife yet ;)

a few years ago there was a similar thread: http://forums.ernieball.com/music-man-guitars/24319-what-your-first-guitar-do-you-still-have.html

Again, my first electric guitar was a charvette by charvel. not very good from what i know today. But because it´s my first one, it´s a keeper for me. It gets no playing these days, only sometimes, when i´m in cellar - where it stands - and I have a few minutes I grab it.

I came to EBMM through being a Deep Purple fan and seeing Steve Morse

Great post. Nice first guitar there. What do you currently play on? It seems to me that a lot of people here were turned onto these guitars through either friends or their favorite guitarist has a signature model. I think that the more and more signature models EBMM create the more exposure they get in the infested. It's awesome to see that they only target the best of the best of players. If they make a Justin Beiber signature model it would be game over haha

My first guitar was a 1981 USA made Fender Bullet. 16 years later in 1997 I had a few Peavey wolfgangs, and then I seen a black Axis,
Played it, bought it, traded in the Wolfies the very next day. I have a lot of other brands also, let's just say they don't see daylight very much.

I see a LIII in your near future! Haha. Yeah women man. They just stop all the fun! Only reason I haven't ordered myself a JPXI or JP 12 yet is because of my fiancé. We're not only getting married this year(which we have to pay for) but were planning on buying a house. Honestly never in my life have I had so much money saved. It feels good but I also want my toys!

I actually did. It's sitting right here in my living room. It is an 'Encore' 3/4 sized nylon string acoustic that my mom bought for me for my first lesson back around 1972. Other than a bit of a concave top and some chips and scratches caused by some 6 year old kid (me), I'd say it survived ok. It stays in tune and plays fine - even with the original stings still on it!

Hmmmm....I guess this explains why several of you have had such a hard time getting me to part with some of my EBMMs. I've never sold a guitar.

My first was a hand me down from my dad. A 1991 Jose Ramirez R2. A couple years later I grabbed an Ibanez RG-7 for my metal phase and loaned my Ramirez to a friend who was learning flamenco and ended up seriously damaging it. Sold it to a luthier looking for a resto project. I really wish I had kept and taken care of it better.

Sold my Ibby for a Les Paul. A few years later sold my LP and saved for a JP. Traded the JP for my 25th, and then got my Silo Spec.

Wish I still had my JR and my JP, but hey that's life.

My first guitar was a Harmony acoustic. It played terribly, but was good enough to learn some chords on. I ended up smashing it because it was so frustrating for me to play on it. First EBMM was the Axis. I fell instantly in love when I picked up and played it at the music store. Great sounding and so comfortable to play.
