back on the boil them down thing.... get an older bass... and once you have boiled them down to molten metal poor it over the body of the older bass for a cool effect.

and that is the last bit of useless advice I will provide on the matter (assuming of course I don't think of something else)

It's really hard to sit in here with Shawn Colvin going and figure out how I'm going to like a bass or strings or whatever - I kinda have to get whatever it is working with the band to get a real handle on it.

But I think I like these. Not quite as thuddy as the...other strings I am known to use...a bit more tension, which is not a bad thing at all. Didn't have to go insane with adjustments from the Slinkys.

So far....yeah. Been a while since I tried these and I think they're going to work.

Those are exceptional cameras, but my opinion on basses...well, not basses, but maybe strings should always be taken with a grain of salt.

I like them 'grandpa' strings, heh heh.

I think rounds are just fine if you're Sterling or Ray or any one of those modern guys (although Ray is not so modern, truth be told...but he makes rounds work), but my ideal tone seems to depend on flats.

If you like what I get, then maybe you might want to slap some flats on your favorite Music Man bass. They're not for everyone, although damned if I know why not.

Hey Jack, there is a guy on MySpace who makes jewlery( Basslets)out of old bass strings.Mabye you could make something like that out of BP's old strings? I'll go in 50/50 with you. We'll call them "Chick Magnets" and make a fortune(or not)

Not rounds. Rounds no worky with Shawn (for me).

And I'm always willing to entertain the idea that I might be full of crapola.

Working on hour three with the EB Flats and the BP Bongo and I think we might have a contender.

Still, I have to get them out in public and flog them. Next weekend, some balloon festival, supposedly 7 to 10 thousand people - sounds like a good place to test 'em, eh?
