I have the opportunity to exhange my Dargie Sterling HH for a Dargie Bongo 4 HH - pre-delivery swap.

Here is my problem:

What got me into EBMM basses was a Sterling HS - the narrower nut/neck felt more like the jazz basses I had been playing for years. I also liked the coil selector switch - making quick tone changes possible. I ordered the Sterling HH to compliment the HS.

Enter the Bongo. I have a Bongo HH currently and am really starting to love the feel/ergonomics of it. I have finally decided that the Bongo is a looker (instead of what I first thought). I have a Dargie Bongo 5 HSP on order as well.

My conundrum:

Do I keep my Sterling order as is when in the back of my mind I feel that I will be grabbing the Bongo more than the Sterling? Switching the order will mean that I have two basses with the same configuration - is that stupid? I might be able to switch my downpayment to order a 07LE BD Bongo fretless.

So - what would you do?

So you're considering the Bongo 4HH even though you already have a Bongo 4HH?

What for?

Having multiple objects that are identical except for color is what some women do with their shoe collections. And yes, that's a sexist remark. I freely admit it. Sorry. But I know of several women and no men who do that.

If you have to have so many basses, it makes sense to me to maximize the variety. Go for the different pickup config.

Then play the Bongo anyway. :D:cool:

True - I do. What makes me happy is to own one of everything. What is practical is another issue.

Hey BP - have you checked your voicemail? I called, per your instructions, a couple of weeks ago. The project I need to talk to you about kicks off 3/9 and the sooner we speak the sooner we can get organized to raise a little money for CLB Foundation.

Just get all your little marble swapping done by the time it hits my door step please so I know who's getting what, I just got done dealing with another Dargie "Pathdoc" swaparoo deal that is just fine by me but I wound up with an extra DD Sterling HS out of the deal which is fine beacuse it's a no brainer to sell.

At this stage of the game with only me out here packing and processing these alone any trade deals or other order changes will cause a delay in shipping because I've already started printing out your invoices and shipping labels.

My advise on an Dargie?? Buy any and all you can. I saw this pic last night and thought...hmmm that would neat to have the DD's ship with engraved shaker.

Having read many of your posts and talked with you in person (which was a pleasure, might I add), Id say Sterling.

Thanks for the insight, Travis - I appreciate it. Couple that with adoug's comment about variety and I am leaning towards keeping things the way they are and getting the Sterling HH.

Dude - my purchase of the Sterling was from another dealer - so my swapping will not impact you. This was going to be a swap for a bass that has not been spoken for - so all was to be done in-house.

The bass I ordered from you, Steve, is a Bongo 5 HSP. Which, BTW, I am really looking forward to and await your emailed invoice.

A Two-Off for sure - as someone else had ordered a B5HSP during the first order cycle.

Thanks Steve.
