Zoinks! That's a battle scar right there! Personally, I would live with it for a little while. If in a months time it is still bothering you, which it very well could be, then at least you have the new body option to fall back on.

I thought EBMM could melt the finish off and just refinish the body.. since the guitar haven't shown any damage as far as playability as you say? Or perhaps EBMM doesn't do that and require you to replace the entire body?

Another option is to get the whole body refinished by a local luthier. You can get some cool custom color that will be unique to you. I'm sure that you like the original color though. That's what I would do if I were you and didn't want to replace the body.

Sorry to see that, I don't know exactly what happened to it, I remember a thread a little while back to use strap locks or not too. Thats why I use strap locks, I have never had a guitar fall. Ever!!! Play it now though, first one is out of the way.

Thanks again guys, it's been some terrible days around here. Yeah it fell from the strap, it's a horrible feeling. In 5 years every time I've finished playing it went straight to the case after cleaning her so this as a first scar is a little hard to take. I'm thinking about sanding the whole area, and applying a clear coat just to stop the crack from spreading and protect the wood from anymore damage and just live with it. Needless to say this is an expense that I didn't have on sight. I'm sure the new body will sound amazing though. It's just that I'm recording my first album and obviously I wanted this one as my main guitar.

I dropped mine nearly two years ago and took and chunk out of the back. I know how you feel but as long it plays the same I would keep it. The damage you will get used to in time. Sorry to hear about that though.

My view, for its worth, is that when you walk into the room and see your guitar, you have to WANT to play it.

If you walk in and your heart sinks....send it away and get a new body.

If you walk in and you still want to play it....leave it alone.

Hey Brother,

Man so sorry to see and hear about your baby, Can not add much more than whats already been stated. Just do something to the area to keep moisture out and it spreading. If it was me I would be sending it back to EB for a refinish but I am so anal on dings and scratches etc.

Wow I really do not mean this as a joke but going five years without a ding it seems like you've gotten five years worth of damage in one shot. I did not expect to see this and was going to tell you to use my favorite ding fix- A nice pinup decal. But that is way beyond that. I know that they used to but am not sure about these days, but did A.J mention about them just refinishing the guitar as an option instead of getting a whole new body? I am guessing you are in Germany and I am certain that there has to be some guys who do nice refin work. That would be the route I would go if I really loved the guitar and if you are gigging with it. Honestly there is a difference between player wear and a few dents and dings or your guitar looking like you lent it to Pete Townshend who speared it through a Marshall.
