With all those "guess what" thread on the other models, I wonder what a "20th Anniversary" Axis is going to be like.

I for one would love to see these specs:

  • Carved Maple Top
  • Set Neck
  • Mahogany Body
  • 25" Scale (just a tad shorted than the current scale)
  • HH Configuration
  • 25th Anniversary pickup selection config.
  • Floating Trem ala the JP6
  • Piezo

Damn... If only dreams could come true...:D

the axis is just such a classic, it seems wrong to do a complete redo of it.

and remember they'd keep it more insinc with the other models. so things like 25", set neck, carved top are probably never going to happen.

maybe a koa axis. although koa luke/jps dont seem to be that widespread.

chambering would be a possibility

as for 25th electronics.. they wouldnt want to make the axis too much like a 25th/reflex.. seeing as they already have those and they are very close to them already. they'd probably do something new (or old) to try and keep it different from a 25th

edit: forgot about the game changer... that'll be different enough :) hehe

The design and neck are just perfect; I'd love some particular finishes, or fretboard different woods...or pick up combinations...
This model is a real classic, like a Strat or a Les Paul...the design of the Axis and th S.S. is amazing!!

I would not change a thing on the Axis or SS. They are perfect as is. (IMO)

Only mod for an anniversary is a one-off colour.

Lionel I think that what you want is nice but not an axis. Either way there will be no anniversary of the axis. We will continure to do BFR versions when something cool rears its head.

To be honest Lionel, the 25th/reflex is already a nice Axis anniversary model and as close and as different from the original that was the 20th Silo to the original Silo

BP is right the BFR concept is supposed to bring those unique model you are looking for. You just have to be patient to get a model that will suit you

Also, as an aside ... with with the 25th/Reflex and HH AL you've now got several guitars in the arsenal that make use of the Axis p'ups.

(The AL with the mahogany body is really remarkable.)

The only thing I would do if I could with the Axis, is to have a floating trem option; still with the floyd-type trem. A BFR Axis with roasted maple and floating trem; now I would mortgage the house for that.

I always assumed the 25th/Reflex represented an Axis anniversary model of sorts; the culmination of the Axis design played out through construction and electronic improvements above and beyond the original EVH model.

Let the Axis be what it is. I can't wait to see what's next.

Put me down for one of these :D

On my Amber Axis, I had the body routered underneath the trem professionally. Can do great pull-back sounds (Vai/Satch inspired). LOVE IT. :)
