Question What's a good hardshell for a SR4?

I'm wondering about a good rectangular case option for a SR4. The mono bag is good. But the best versions offered are a bit too thick for travel and the thinner versions look like they don't provide enough protection. I understand why EB 86'd the molded plastic cases. Here in MN when the weather drops to 5 degrees, the molded cases can literally shatter if you bump them against cement or a steel door.

But I can take that risk on a molded if need be. I really love the wood and tolex cases.

So I'm looking for recommendations. Has anyone found a brand that fit the 4 string Rays well? G&G, TKL, Gator, etc....

The wood and tolex stuff ages poorly, not just cosmetic but structure. Better off with the plastic and try not to shatter them too often. At least if it does shatter it has done its job at that moment. The neck on your bass is rather brittle at low twmperature AND is under a lotta tension ... maybe you should relax the strings just a bit for transport in severe cold ? Im in upstate NY and have Moses necks on two of my MMs. Yes its sacrilege, but in February thaz what works. Ive nevvvvvuh had to adjust those necks over many years. Just rock steady !

Obviously, plastic cases are OK by me. The still very intact tolex in the middle contains one of the Moses necked MMs. When its not January or February it mostly goes nowhere so its not at all beat up, and yes, it wont shatter and also it isnt getting old very fast.
