mojomkr, have to agree with you 100%. As a long time user of one of the so called big two, though I would say over the last 20 years the playing field has narrowed big time and continues to shrink, there is no way you are getting the kind of top or neck you would get on a Standard issued Ball let alone a BFR without spending double or more whichever way you went. And even then IMHO as I have seen more than my share of Fen### CS guitars, the materials would not be on par to that on the Balls.

I have a few Axises and wouldn't change a single thing. Every time I pick them up I'm blown away by how perfect they are, for me at least.

In todays world of about 100 guitar makers there is probably nothing you could want that could not be found.

but aside from my pickup-fantasy. thats a very untrue statement. i spend a lot of time on sevenstring.org and although the community there makes my blood boil it is very fun seeing the custom guitars that they order. it really makes you see how infinite guitars can be.

i say this with all politeness but to say there is nothing that cant be found is quite ignorant.

that being said, a lot of the people who order custom guitars are a lot of the time rather spoiled and picky about the minuscule details.

I find nothing I dont like about them. There are probably few models that are just not fit for me, but that's why we have the options and always the on going process of experimenting at EBMM...so many different things have come out in the past several years since the 20th Anniversary Silhouette it's crazy. Speaking of the 20th Silo, it is perfect in every way possible to me...I thought I could make it my own by putting other PUPs in it, but ultimately it is the best just the way it came from the factory. I'm perfectly content with what I have and I would not change anything about these guitars other than the pickups in my Silo Special which work for my style and taste...the LUKE I should be getting VERY soon will stay as is other than I will put the solid block saddles on her...cant wait .

As I stated with more than 100 guitar makers out there today if you have enough scratch, there will be someone willing to build you a guitar that would stretch as far as your imagination. I do not see the ignorance.

ahhh yes of course. sorry i thought you were excluding custom builds when you said "out of the 100 guitar makers"... i took that to mean guitar manufacturing companies such as ernie ball and gibson etc. who have stock models but no custom shop.
ill take back that then

but still.... 7 string single coil active doesnt exist. the only possibility there is a seymour duncan custom pickup which i got a quote for $700AU per pickup... thats $2100 for 3 pickups... you can get a whole guitar for that. my dream of a 7 string luke is so down the toilet its not funny

I have a Sub1 a Morse and an Axis and Love them all.
I put Stainless steel frets in the Sub and they are Awesome!!!!
This was kinda like putting Red peppers on my pizza, I just like it that way.
These frets are not for everyone.
I would like to see the silhouette special available with a floyd "like in Japan" as I would like to have one for myself but I do understand that BP has a business to run and looks at what sells.
I love the guitars that Music Man makes and feel that short of making custom shop models we will have to be happy with what is produced and mod them to our taste.

I love the JP guitars for the feel and the awesome metal tones. Been playing the JPX more and more, and the stealth gets a ton of love.

Love the 25th for the versatility. It really is the Swiss Army knife of guitars.

Man. I'd have to spend some time with one. In the limited time I've had to play an Axis, I really didn't get along with the neck. I wouldn't be opposed to an Axis if I could get along with it.

The same goes for the Albert Lee model. I've *never* had the chance to play one so I don't know how I'd get along with it...but I'd be willing to try one out.

my Silo Spec which I took home a week ago is the sweetest guitar I have ever played.I'm playing it "as is" off the rack and it is awesome.I know this sounds like some honeymoon rap but it isn't,I've put it through it's paces at jams,band rehearsal and an impromptu gig and it's kicking butt and takin' names,baby!

no, the only thing BP stayed away from was ebony because of it's natural Prima-Donna'ness as a wood. one forumite, a teacher (which needed to play the same positions ad nauseam) had SS frets set in. and they were indeed silky smooth and very durable, but tonewise, nickel still wins. this was a reasonably recent thread, you could do a search if u r so inclined.

the day SS sounds better than nickel, all the major brands will swap to SS.
