I need a new bass cord/cable and I'm thinking a Monster cable, need at least 20ft. but maybe theres another brand--> also what about having an angle jack too is that cool?

reason is I just bought a store brand cable with an angled jack that was supposed to be a very good cable and already the thing is messing up on me and I was blaming the jack in my Ray for it originally but soon realized its the cable..

I'm seeing some good looking 21' Monster cable 500's for arounf $30 on Ebay and wondering if I should just buy one..

thanks Ted

I haven't had a single problem with my Monster Cable. But more recently I purchased a Kordex Cable from Shorelinemusic.com and I'm totally impressed by its performance. I know some of the other forumites are very happy with their Bayou cables.

Personally I try to avoid angled jacks esp with basses like ours, where the socket is on the body's contour rather than on the 'face' of the bass (like a p-bass).

Cables

Hi,

I would have to put my vote in for Monster Bass Cables. A night and day difference from the Guitar Research Cables I initially started out with a while back.

Angled or Straight ends? I use straight. I've never found it an issue. But I know that Monster Bass is available with an angled end if you so prefer.

I have one that's green and kind of reptilian, and I like it a lot.

I also have some Ernie Ball cables that are working REAL good.

That's about as picky as I get with cables.

I use Monster 500, and they have served me well. I will, however, switch in february. There are new plugs form Neutrik (SIlent Plug) that have a reed breaker (magnetic, encapsulated, won't connect until the plug is all the way in) so I can stop worrying about unplugging w/ the amp turned on.

You could always turn the master volume down before unplugging, or use the preamp mute button (if your rig has one). I make a point of muting my rig or turning down the master at the end of each set, for that reason.

yeah, that's what everyone keeps telling me. But somehow I can't seem to do a single show without "popping" the unplug. So I figure those breaker plugs will serve me well:)
