whats the best way to accept payment for selling a bass privately?

Meet the guy 1/2 way somewhere. I've done that with lots of deals. 50 mi is nothing. So #1 is cash.

#2 is paypal. Works great for me.

I'm getting more and more nervous about postal MOs. My bank won't even instantly add the funds to my acct because they told me the postal money order is a high forgery item.

Paypal is the easiest and safest, just add the fees into the sale price, when I sell the money is there, I transfer to my bank account and it shows up in my account in 24 hours.

Don't let Paypal find out about that. Their rules are very clear that by using their service you agree not to increase the amount of the sale to cover fees. It is something you as the seller are meant to absorb, much like any retail establishment that accepts credit cards.
