Wow there is no peavey bashing here ...I have stated that hartley Peavey has dissappointed me and not with EVH..(Although I did hook up the 5150 amp deeal for him with a ribbon...maybe some day geta box of chocolates)

I think that if you ask me is they are the best choice in most catedgories I would say there are much better alternatives.

If you are responding to the peavey free thread I think he is just excited to get some more of our stuff...

Big Poppa, thanks for your insight on this. I know that in print, meanings behind what is being said can be misinterpreted. I think this is the case here. I saw that thread and seen things like the "friends don't let friends buy Peavey" and drew a conclusion. I'm glad that I asked and folks responded.

As far as I'm concerned, this tread can be shut down now.

Thanks again.

Actually I stand by that comment I think its funny.

Hartley Peavey thought the axis would be an easy guitar to make according to people who supply parts....when it was harder and he couldnt deliver Wolfgangs on time he wrote a letter to manny's Music telling them that words to the effect that EVHs prior manufacturer had lesser standards and workmanship so the wolfgang was worth the wait. The Goldrich brothers who used to own mannys showed me the letter....

I stopped buying Peavey products when they started selling T-shirts that said Made in America and half their line is now outsourced to China.

I was surprised to hear (i think from a gc guy) that Peavey was actually the largest amp supplier in the world.

I still have trouble believing it. I thought marshall or fender.

Not sure of the politicking, backstabbing or anything. Only played a few of their guitars. Didn't wow me.

I believe, it dude. Everywhere that I've been through and travelled to I've seen a **** ton of Peavey.

I like their amps, and some of their guitars are pretty cool. Definitely not a Music Man, though.

No lie, Toys-R-Us here carries one of their $59 entry level amps. They are everywhere.

The WGs I've owned and played have all been very nice guitars. I still have one (XMAS present from the wife in 1999), though it hasn't been out of the case in a couple years. If not for the WG, I never would've tried the Axis, and fast forward to today, I wouldn't be struggling to pick the colors for my Silo Special order this week.

I have a Classic 30 and a 5150 combo that both just kill. Both amps will be with me forever. I'd love to hear BP's 5150 story.

I have a friend who says that after the holocaust, the only thing left will be cockroaches and Peavey amps.

I really don't know if that's good or bad.

I grew up in Mississippi way back when, and Peavey was decent and affordable. I think there are better choices now, but Peavey filled a void for us when we were 15 and couldn't afford other gear.

I think Peavey MarkIII bass heads were often stocked in Civil Defense bomb shelters.

famous hartley Peavey quotes include

"doing busines with superstores (GC) is like hanging out the window of a skyscraper being held by one hand" Something like that......Now he sells GC.....hmmmmm

I gave a deposition for him way back fighting the koreans and their duty rate for imported products here.....now a lot of his stuff is made in china....hmmmmmm

I think Hartley's wife had a lot to do with the way the company used to be run. She got very ill and passed away several years ago (quite tragic and sad story)....and since then, Peavey started showing up in mail order catalogs and started outsourcing a lot more stuff in China.
I still think they make some good gear, but the company has a different "feel" overall.

That's a pretty low thing to do.

I guess he never learnt the lesson of. Don't badmouth the competition.

Me personally, l've got nothing against Peavey, l have one of their speaker cabs. I used to have a 5150, and l think the JSX is a really nice amp.

yea..
generic....
but i've always felt that way.
MANY times i've tried to go with there stuff both as a consumer........& a retailer.
i really bought into the made in america........& we are dor the little guy pitch back in the 90's.
but i felt almost all their products lack luster .

All I can say is that I owned a JSX and LOVED it. It's a great amp. I'd like to own another one some day.
