What are the tonal difference between the BFRs and the standard models? The only thing I see that would effect the tone would be the mahogany block. How much difference does it make? And what are the pros cons of the BFR vs the Standard Axis/JP/Luke?

Thanks Guys!

The BFR Axis has the least physical difference, with the tone block being the only wood difference from the standard Axis.

The BFR Luke is the same as standard, except for the tone block and figured maple top.

The BFR JP has the biggest departure from the standard axe.

Alder body vs basswood
Mahogany Tone Block added
Maple Top added.
Painted Mahogany neck vs Maple.
Push-Pull knob to activate both HB's vs split only (position 2)

Keep in mind that this comparison is for the "normal" BFR's - there have been some pretty special limited BFR's too (i.e. Koas, Rosewood Necks).

In terms of Pros & Cons, it's all down to individual taste.
I can only comment on the BFR JP - To me, it's a distinct difference - tonally, aesthetically & ergonomically.
The BFR JP is a superb guitar.

However, I must admit my standard JP gets more playtime these days, mainly because of the forearm contour, plus I recently reinstalled the SS pickup and like it more than the D-sonic. (Mine came 2nd hand with the D-sonic, but had the original SS included).

But the BFR concept is more than just "upgrades" - it's a line of very special instruments with additional touches for those who may want that little bit more than the standard issue axe.
