I have a 5string olp I bought cheap as a scratch and dent.I have to say it has one of the nicest necks I have seen on low priced bass. The action is super low with no fret buzz. They were a lot better then other brands in the same price range.

I believe one of the problems was that their QC was also wildly inconsistent. At least that's what I remember being what BP said at some point.

I'd love to see a new licenced product. I had an OLP Benji for a while....then bought the sub-1....then the Axis SS.... My kids aren't allowed to touch the Axis but I've found other "like" copies out there that are a good value for the money. That's not to say that they play anything like the Axis......it's to say that I don't have a problem letting my 8 year old bring it to school for his music class.

This is great news!

WE will be debuting the newest member of the Music Man Family at Anaheim NAMM. It is done by the Park Family and is called Sterling by Music Man...(I fought the name but was overruled by Guitar Center and Dargie and the staff)

Perhaps it will allow me to return to the EBMM flock....

I always find it funny that OLP stands for "officially licensed product." I guess no one could come up with a more creative name.

looking forward to seeing the new brand. to be honest I was wondering if the new budget MM's would end up being made in Coachella in the other part of the EB factory...

olp was good, but at the same time bad.. so ill welcome the new addition with open arms :)

of course i got a few questions, mostly from a retail side of things view.. :)
ill be daring enough to ask them in public in case anybody else care:
will it be distributed by the ernie ball company itself, or will it be like the olp.. someone else taking care of it?
id really love it if the distribution ended up with the regional distributor of the other eb products (eg: strings and things in uk, emnordic in scandinavia and so on.. ) :)
