it's cool man, it's all a matter of opinion.
This will be getting alot of playing time too, it's gonna be hard some days to decide what I want to play...the ibby or the ray...

The great thing about having different pickguards is that they are like little hats for your basses. So, you can change them out to fit your mood.
I mean, even if the tort really clashes with the pearl blue, there will probably be a time when you want your bass to clash.

but the thing is, tort doesn't clash with the blue in my eyes, it just like LPB and tort, it's a great combination.

As most of you know, I had a torted pearl blue SR5 and IMHO, that combo absolutely ROCKS!!! Just make sure it's the brown tortoise shell and not the red.
I can't wait to see this one with a tort p/g.

haha, I mean white pixkguards, pearl white is cool, but plain white only works on a white bass.
Just my opinon.

well, I spent alot of today messing around with the pickup selector, and the EQ to see what I could get with this baby, and I was surprised at what I got.
(BTW, the eq on my amp was flat)
Ok, 5th position (neck bucker), treble cut all the ay, mids cut a tad, and bass boosted got me a very nice rounded off P bass tone. It was actually really cool to mess around with.
4th Position (inner coils of the 2 buckers), Treble boosted, mids flat, and bass boosted, this got me an awesome meaty slap tone that I thoroughly (sp.?) enjoyed. I think this is what I'll be using for alot of slap, very nice.
3rd position (both buckers) This if my favorite for finger style, bass boosted (3/4 of the way), mids boosted (halfway), and treble boosted (a tad). This was really cool cause I could make it thick and punchy, but if layed off a little bit, I could smooth it out kinda like a neck jazz pickup, but with juicier tone.
2nd position (outer coils of both buckers), Mids boosted, bass boosted, treble flat, this got me a cool burpy kinda bridge jazz pup kinda sound with an MM twist (for the better). If I played between both of the pickups, it was similar to a jazz bass with both pickups on, and the tone more to the treble side, but I could play softer and get a smoother sound as well.
1st position (bridge bucker) Treble boosted, mids boosted, and bass boosted, this got me the good 'ol classic Ray sound, but I messed with the EQ a little more and found some other interesting things as well.
This is a very versatile bass, and will good for alot of the things I play, I just can't wait to get it in jazz band.
