Style : mostly fingers, sometimes pick ou thumb, rarely slap.

Music and Bass are a passion. But I'm realist and know I can't live from that, so I have a job and it takes me alot of time. Maybe it's better so, you always love more want you don't have enough time to do.

I like to play every kind of music, from metal to jazz, from rock to rap, from prog to punk and fusions of any kind. I played in a punk band, than in a jazz one, and today I play in a band that mixes influences (rock, jazz, folk, industrial...) and instruments (guitar, violin, electro stuff...). I don't really like playing other group's songs, 'cause you can never match the original (I prefer to modify the song, for ex. playing punk a cool song or jazzy a metal one). I think you always play better what you created yourself and it's the most satisfaying way to express what you feel.

I came to bass because I always liked the place it has in a song (warm and deep sound, driving the rythm...) I don't play guitar. In the future I'll have to learn playing drums (I always wanted to, but it was too expensive).

Mainly fingers and do get the occaisonal comment of being a frustrated pianist (I'm really getting in to the chording/arpeggiating thing, but it's still a crap shoot as to whether or not it works :p )

working musician for now but am having to renegotiate some "out of town" playing fees so we'll see what happens there :D

Gene Simmons drove me to the bass and Eddie VanHalen drove me to being a musician (also Eric Avery, Muzz Skillings and later, Charles Mingus)

Like most people here I like almot every style and to be employable I try to be atleast a little versed in everything but friggin' tumbao's still give a run for my money!!

Emotional Rescue, I was made to love her, and Three Days are some of my favourite lines as well.

Let's see...

I play with fingers 80% of the time, my Thumb 15% and 5% Pick. I also dable in guitar/keys. Started out when I was 8 on trumpet then french horn(John Entwhistle anyone).

Right now, I could be purely a working musician but I'm working a day job to help pay for College loans right now. I went to school for music(Degree in Music Performance) and play in a few working bands w/ some studio work on the side. I'm also thinking about getting into teaching soon.

I was driven into music by Miles....but got turned on by bass with some of the jazz cats- Ron Carter, Paul Chambers, Mingus...(obviously someone I look up to).

Some of my influences include: Rocco Prestia of Tower of Power, George Porter Jr. of the Meters, Sir Paul McCartney, Bruce Thomas who played with Elvis Costello, John Entwhistle of The Who...

The older I get(I'm 24 now) the more I appreciate and grow to love every style of music. I'll play anything and I pride myself on the fact I can play pretty much any style convincingly and with feeling. Obviously It helps to be open to new styles when you are wanting to be a working musician.

that should be a good start

First, what's your style(s)? Fingers, pick, both? Holding the line (ala Cliff Williams) or out in front (ala Graham Maby). Gotta be some slap/funk out there too...
99% fingers(other 1% pick on Sober from Tool....tried doing it w/ the fingers but it tore my hands up too much)
Second, what are you using your bass for? Working musician? Hobbiest? Wannabe star?
Working Musician & hobbiest
And lastly, what drove you to play bass? What's your preferred type of music to play? Favorite songs/artists to play?
Listening to Bob Daisley playing Ozzy songs on Blizzard & Diary. I prefer to play classic rock & metal(Ozzy. Sabbath, Rush, Kansas,etc.). I like playing: I Don't Know & S.A.T.O. from Ozzy, Anything by Rush, Song For America by Kansas, & just about any Sabbath song.
