I started off playing EVH guitars and then moved to the axis, but after getting a crazy deal on a brand new silo special a few years ago I became a silo convert, now its my #1 playing any style i need, whats your favorite and why?
I know it's less versatile than an ASS, or a Silo Spec, but I'm a man with fingers like bananas and a head full of cartoons.
I like the simplicity.
Two great sounding humbuckers, one volume control, the best neck on any guitar ever made. go. go.
After years of playing either Strats or Les Pauls, I picked up an Axis. I needed a good quality guitar with a Floyd system, and the "dive only" set up was exactly what I was looking for. Now, I have 3 Axii (Axes according to some dictionaries) and a recently acquired EVH. My go-to fave is a Green Axis with D-tuna and an aftermarket coiltap on the volume pot. No longer need to constantly switch guitars, my one Axis does it all. Now I just have to install the same coiltap pot on the other two (not touching the EVH, thanks very much...), and I will be 100% flexible.
Then I will have a problem deciding which one is the main squeeze then!!!
My fav (at this moment ) is the Silo Special SSS, then the Axis SS MM90 with Piezo
But a Luke DD is on it's way and I am confident this one will be in the top 3
Was playing the Silo and the EVH without amp yesterday late at night and it's amazing to hear the tone difference between those 2 guitars even though they are not plugged
I've got only one ball (don't laught....), my LukeII, but, in my list to buy, a JP7 for sure, with or without piezzo, I don't know, and later a LukeI, and after that, an ASS, and after....
Uh, my left?
No balls(ernie ) to speak of yet, but I'm going to San Antonio this weekend and House of Guitars told me a few weeks ago that they were waiting on 3 silos. Yeah, cook it up!
Well, so far it is definatly the Silhouette H-S-H! I cant get enough of this thing....but then again it is the only Ball I have IN my possession. I did just sell a Luke which was great, but the Silo is it for now.
I too have a GREAT feeling about the 20th Silo I got on order and we shall see once I get the Axis SS w/ piezo. The ASS might me the most versetile, and that's why I ordered it. The 20th Silo is more simple, but it's all in the fingers and humbuckers are the way to go !
Right now, it's my Axis SS by virtue of the fact that it's my only EBMM... at least until Tuesday when my SUB1 is delivered.
Yup, after having an Axis SS for about 3 weeks I ran across a great deal on a new SUB1 and just couldn't help myself. Can't wait to get my second Ball!
JP6. It's the only one I've got. That will change, though, sooner or later.
I wouldn't say that it's as versatile a guitar as what I would want if I had a roburado signature model, but what it does, it does extraordinarily well. It's like a sports car like, let's say, an M3 or a Porsche. It does a lot of things really well. It does some things extremely well--in an exemplary fashion. I do feel I give up a certain amount of "utility" for lack of a better term, though. The only thing that's missing for me is the $tr@t-like tones when you use single coils in the neck and middle. It sort of does it in the middle positions, but I don't get that spank I like sometimes. I'm wondering if the Silo, Silo Spec HSS, or ASS might be a more "complete" fit for me. I just find the JP6 so comfy fit for me that I worry that those guitars might be too big of an adjustment. I think I could get used to the ASS. Don't know a thing about how the Silo or Silo Spec would feel in my hands, though. So, we'll see. I'd love to try them.
Me Blue Dawn Sparkly Silo.....Sparkly Albert is catching up but im still getting used to it/breaking it in the silo was used when i got it ...felt like an old shirt when i played it so very comfy and the wide range of tones it does country rock or heavier rock rather well! the new Axis has less that 6 hours on it...... its my feelin 80's metal guitar and i have been playin alot of Dwight lately sooooooooo
Foggy's go to axe. 2006 Wilson NPRO Racquet. Lightweight, very confortable. Innovative criss-cross string pattern allows for unique strumming and soloing techniques. Does a wonderful job at sending BALLS away from user.
