BB Preamp would be the best bet. Standard or Timmons. Next I would try a Tim or Timmy. They are without doubt great pedals.

I use the above, plus a MJM Blues Devil, Ulbrick 12axe, Fulldrive II, Wampler Hot Wired, and Fuchs Plush Cream.

Go try... You might be surprised. I actually liked the Trimode a lot better than other Radial pedals. It's got what you'd want your amp to have, and it does work well with many amps I tried it on. (including a Fender HotRod Deluxe)

i have tried. i own a TBHB, not a trimode (nor plexitube). what happens is one distortion going into another distortion and they don't like eachother. fenders and hiwatts however, are great at taking pedals.

One distortion going into... Hang on, how much gain are you actually running? You throw a distortion pedal into an amp with full gain already on?

lionel, you NEEEEEED to hear a thunderverb to believe it!!! like, pedals can't do anything like that amp can...

EDIT: you live way east right? do they have orange around there? i wanted to try an od/dist into the preamp in order to add a little transistor grit and compression. but after all this, it's prolly gonna be a Xotic or the MXR boost.

yep, we got orange around here... but i've never heqard of anyone running distortions into a fully driven amp... ODs yes, but distortions?

what the bleep do i know? i just do my best to play the damn thing but can't afford to go out and try all the pedals there are to buy and marketing ppl just keep coming up with new designations for the same **** all the time. so, to me, it's all the same, except some **** sounds good and some **** sounds like, well, ****.
