hey hey,

I'm doing a review of a stingray 4 for a certification thing at work, I need some people to tell me why they love stingrays and what makes them so great.

very comfortable to play,I love the neck.It just feels right. I like the quick trussrod adjustment and give it a tiny spin two or three times a year.When I do I marvel about how easy and fast it is to tweak.I like the 3+1 headstock, the girlie contours,and the round pickguard.(herself says it looks like there's a little spotlight on my plucking hand).Nice solid bridge that's easy to set and stays in place when you do ,three band EQ and deadly sounding pups.I like the quick change battery compartment and feel secure when I look at that six bolt neck....it's solid.The little things like the taper on the string posts.In many ways it is like a Fender ( I grew up playing Pbasses) but it has been re-thought and improved.They say it's one of the finest made production instruments today and I believe that.There have been some small improvements made since they started making Stingrays but the last couple have been slight. ( rounding off the magnets in the pickups for example).The finish on my Ray is gorgeous....honeyburst/rosewood.It's a classic bass that is a constant work in progress.It's a feeling I get when I pick it up...it's a sound that slides under the mix.....it's the perfect balance on a strap.... it's a smile from my bandmates.-It's a big part of what I do.

When I plugged my SR into an amp for the first time, it made the sound that had been in my head for the past 15 years of trying to play the bass. The fact that it is perfectly dimensioned for my hands, balances superbly and looks good don't hurt, but it has that sound.

Fo all those reasons, I was planing (and saving up some money) to buy a SR 4. I always loved the sound and look of the SR, just was not as happy as Morrow with the comfort. I found Fender jazz more comfortable but didn't like the look. And then, EBMM created the Bongo. It has everything I love in the SR, feel more comfortable, and with the dual Pu's as an incredible sound.

It sounds really really really good.
very solid cunstruction, made to last.
It looks as great as it sounds, and I absolutely love my finish (natural with black PG and rosewood neck)
I own the 2-band EQ version, and prefer it above the 3 band. more than enough diffirent tones to use

I agree 100%

To me, a Stingray has the feel of a nice P-bass (neckwise), but a sound that cuts much better, almost like a jazz bass, but as we all know a sound all its own.

Before I bought my Stingray (Dec 8th will be 3 years :) ) I played about 15 different 'Rays, and I have to say that the quality was more consistent than I've felt/heard in any other model or brand of bass. They were all suberbly made, no balogna!

Mine is black w/rosewood.

There might just be a Bongo in my future.

Ernie Ball quality is second to none.

Why do i like Stingrays?

Hmmm, good question, since I own three of them (Stingray 4, Stingray 4 Fretless, Stingray 5)...

Actually before I even knew what one was, I loved its tone. ctually, I wasn't even a bass player yet, but it just so happened that all these bassists I admired happened to all use Stingrays.

I first knew what one was about 10 years ago. I'd gotten a CD from a local band and their player plays 'em. Watching them live, he plays both an SR4 and an SR5.

So I wanted one!

I also wanted to learn to play the bass around that time too (I sang played keyboards primarily).

Once I got one - a black/black/rosewood SR5 it was my only bass for years.
But this year I got serious into bass again. I acquired another one - a fretless Stingray and just the other day acquired a natural/black/maple fretted SR4 (2EQ).

I know, I'm crazy.

I also visited the MM factory back in April and gained a totally new respect for not onlly the company but the people who made these things.

But basically, they sound good, they look good (neither too fancy nor plain) and no matter how dorky you look, you'll always look cool playing one.
 
First and foremost; tone baby, tone.

On top of the ferocious tone, including what might very well be the best slap tone out there, the construction is top notch and it happens to fit me well. Finally, it looks great.
 
the tone is crazy. you could kill someone with a ray and an svt if you tried hard enough. and the neck, oh man, that neck is beautiful. and it comes in some of the coolest colors ive ever seen.
