Wow, this is like the real forum, the bass forum, only with weirder people.

My big news is that I'm slowly but surely replacing those OTHER guitars (it was market research, I swear) with Music Man instruments. As you'll no doubt remember, I bought an Albert Lee Orange Crush a few years ago and I really have used that for almost everything guitar oriented. Why would I use anything else?

Then a forumite (are those the ones that hang from the ceiling? I always get that wrong) who shall be unnamed unless he so chooses had a Silhouette for sale. Hmmm. Those look like a little Stingray 5, right? Maybe my friends won't notice how many string it has. In any case, it was red and had a bunch of pickups and a rosewood board and honestly, I've wanted one since I played one of Sterling's Silhouettes back when dinosaurs walked the earth. So then I had the Albert and the Silhouette and I felt good about myself. It - the guitar - didn't have a wiggle stick, and I thought: well, I don't have a hardtail electric guitar. And the Flying Spaghetti Monster looked down and declared it to be excellent.

Then, a few weeks ago, I had my people talk to Luke's people about something or other and my social secretary sent me a memo that said Toto would be in town in a few days. Negotiations began. My security team was nervous - was I really going to go outside? I consulted my 10th grader, who has taken up guitar. Would he be interested in seeing Men At Work, Christopher Cross, Toto? He was interested. Very much so. Luke spotted is two excellent tickets and backstage passes; we haven't seen each other in a LONG time. Watching Mr Lukather play guitar, I thought: why don't I have a Luke guitar? We've been friends for over 20 years and I don't have a Luke guitar? Unacceptable, am I right?

Once you start looking at a certain guitar, you know it's over, right? But you guys probably know this: those Luke guitars can be danged spendy! No matter. I was looking for a used Luke and that meant I was going to buy a used Luke.

I perused the stuff on Reverb....I know. I hate it, too, but eBay is so last century. I found a beautiful blue quilt Luke for a reasonable price and messaged the guy - did he have better photos of the headstock? (Reflections made it look weird in the photos he posted.) He messaged me right back. Guess what? It was Keith Sweat! Then it was REALLY over.

And now I have the AL, the Silo AND the Luke. Don't tell the bassists, okay?

Cheers!

Brother Jack,

Thank you for the lovely Friday morning reading. Glad that you and kiddo got to see "The White-Haired One".

You have been on this forum for so long that Sterling Ball retired from the company rather than try to match your post count. That means you know some stuff. One of those things you know is the most sacred of all forum rules...

New Guitars Do Not Exist without PHOTOS.

Yeah, I know we've seen it before when it was Keith's but we need to see it again because now it's yours. And a family photo of the Al, Silo, and Luke would be good measure. DEM IS DE ROOLS. Any Lukey photos from the gig?
