I played an Axis at the Frankfurt MusikMesse, about 8 or 9 years ago....

I said to myself: I gotta get me one of these soon....

It took me another 5 or 6 years from then to actually buy my first Axis SS... Haven't looked back... :D

Lead guitarist Andy Powell with UK classic rock band Wishbone Ash always uses a couple of Silos live when not using his trade mark flying vee. Loved the sound /look of them so when I saw a lefty on ebay pulled the trigger and never looked back since.

Like many, EVH.
+1. When F.U.C.K came out I was stunned away by the overall sound, so better than VH albums since then. I bought my first EBMM as soon as I found a good deal (ex-demo model from Frankfurt's Musik Messe). I since fell in love with these beautifully crafted instruments, and I'm pushing EBMM thru my friends. Maybe a colleague of mine will catch a JP6 very soon. Thanks, Big Poppa!!!

Steve Morse. Always loved his playing and dug the guitar.

One day I found a decently priced Morse on eBay (turns out it used to be Tommy's) and the rest is history. (And the bank account has since shrunk.)

I got my first exposure from EVH, I always thought that the Purple EVH was the coolest. The first place I ever got to try an EBMM was at GC and it was a Silo Special, pearl red, I thought this thing feels soo sweet in my hands and I can't even play.

Never got over that feeling and still remember it to this day.

I first discovered EBMM guitars when VH released F.U.C.K. I didnt really know much about VH, and was super impressed with Mr VH and the guitar too. I just had dozens of magazines with EVH playing an EBMM and knew that I had to have one! Sadly they all had those silly wanger-sticks on them. Luckily they came out with a sensible hard tail and the rest is history!

I was a budding Dream Theater fan and somehow I got a copy of G3 Live in Tokyo. I watched the beginning and wondered how he switched to a guitar of a different color so often in a song.
Then it kept changing.
After I scraped my jaw off the floor I knew two things:
A) I would learn how to play the guitar.
B) I would one day own an EBMMJP6 in Mystic Dream.
And now I can die a happy man!
...
That is after I get a BFR F-1 in Bahama Blueburst. I've sworn to one day own one of those.

I've seen them here and there but never paid much attention, until I picked up a Silo Special at Modern Guitar in Reno, about 7-8 years ago. I'd just ordered a custom G&L from the store, so it was too late for me to buy it. Finally, about 3 years ago I bought one. My only regret is waiting so long.

Roburado and I share a similar tale...

Being one of the biggest Hendrix fans in existence during High School, I had an off brand white Strat copy and always wanted to own the real thing. That was 1982/83.

Fast forward to 2001. My cousin hands me a disc of music he'd downloaded from somewhere (I didn't ask, he didn't tell) with these guys named Dream Theater and I fell in love. I purchased their entire catalog with my Christmas cash. The same cousin hands me a video he has and I catch John Myung doing what he does. Then I notice the guy over on the right side of the stage...this cat is WAILING on some guitar that kinda resembles a Strat, but I can tell immediately it's not. My cousin informs me that this cat's name is John Petrucci and he endorses Music Man guitars. I remember the name because my guitar teacher waaaay back in high school had told me that the Ernie Ball guys were great string makers but they were branching out and had started Music Man (the dates aren't totally correct but I was in High School so I didn't really listen all that well). I have a really hazy recollection of seeing the Music Man logo somewhere and saying to myself, wow...Music Man. I believe it was an announcement of a big Endorsee (EVH?) but I don't remember completely.

Anyhoo...I thought, "Hey, if this cat, who could probably play whatever guitar he wanted to, plays Music Man guitars...well then that must be one damn fine guitar. Over the next few years, he becomes my absolute Number-1-with-a-bullet Favorite Living Guitar player (and that's a loooong list) so I'm actually kinda getting crazy about playing again!

Fast forward again to last year. I come back from my annual July jaunt to sunny Orlando (we lovingly refer to it as "The Meeting On The Sun") and find out that my department is going to play a couple songs at our December Holiday party. I thought that this would be perfect...what a great time to get back into the Guitar Game and get my family behind me again (they've ALL been telling me to start playing again for years) so I started looking.

My wife and I set a budget for my new, REAL, guitar. I'd told myself I really wanted...an Ib...just like Satch. Or maybe a nice new Strat (even though I'd heard about all the bad publicity). I really couldn't afford the G/LP...not the one I liked. At that point, I decided to head over to Musician's Friend and check out the EBMM JP. During this time, a friend of mine loaned me his Ib and I found that I really didn't like them. Plus, the more I looked at the JPs, the more I wanted one but MF didn't seem to have what I wanted. That leads me to Beckley's EBMM dealer and then eventually to Pete DuBaldo...the rest is history.

Even though I'm over my original budget (Shhhh...the CFO doesn't know, I made a deal with someone that gave me the necessary $$$$ but let's keep that quiet) I now have the guitar I wanted from what I honestly say is the best company out there. I mean, where else do you find someone like BP getting on a public forum and chatting it up with the guys/gals?

I'm very hopeful to be able to post thoughts and pics of my very first EBMM soon. I'm told it's on the way to that six-fingered fella who posts here now and then. After that, I foresee an Axis in my future...the pics of the Axis are speaking to me in my dreams:)

I think that same fella will be getting another call...
