in the days when men were men & all the sheep were worried (& walked kinda funny) i owned my first Musicman bass.i'd completely forgotten about this bass until my brother mentioned it this week.
not shure of the model but i think it was a Sabre bass.it was natural with maple neck(i think)it had 2 x2pole pickups & a black plate.it had the origional sale receipt
with it & i seem to think it was a '78.
unfortunately i have no photo's of it as i was usually too drunk to use a camera at that time:D & being a self confesed moron i didn't like it & traded it for a fender jazz:eek: (sorry for the bad language) -how i wish i'd kept it.
any how i'm rambling on a bit--sorry folks--i just wondered if anyone could tell me how stupid i was & if it was actually called a Sabre.
also anyone's got one or played one,if so do you have any photo's of it.
cheers
his stupidness artisan.

Definitely sounds like a Sabre. There's a horrible picture of one selling on ebay.co.uk right now! But I'm sure there must be better photos somewhere on this forum. Do a search my man.

you were a flaming moron...now does that feel better? Actually you can still get one and I liked the sabre so little that I discontinued them. I know there are a bunch of rabid fans of them. But when we started from zero I had to concentrate on getting one right.

If you crave a two pickup bass the new offerings we have I am quite proud of....

Drool.....slurp........foam........ Does this look familiar? I sold a '77 Ricky in the day to fund this:

No offense, BP, but Leo got that bass right, IMO. You guys then blew everyone out of the water with the double pickup Rays and Sterlings and more player versatility with that pup configuration. I love my EB MM basses, but I'll never relinquish the Sabre. Nevah!!

Just pick up an HH Stingray, Sterling, or even better, Bongo. Get the single humbucker Bongo that everyone who's tried one just raves about.

Prove you're not a moron by benefiting from 20 years of experience and development on the part of Sterling & Co. ;)

That's a SCHWEET looking bass Artisan! Love the trans-red/maple combo, which ALMOST became my first SR4 before a black one caught my eye. And you are correct, you shouldn't "need" another bass for some time while you still have that to play with!
