Don't bite my head off, I tried searching for this but couldn't find an answer. Please explain to me how PDN, Special Editions and BFR series work. I'm on the market for a Bongo and wouldn't mind waiting for something special...

Thanks

Typically, Music Man does them once or maybe on a rare occasion, twice a year. Usually, the ordering window is in April or May and is one month long with a delivery date between September to December. Then on a few occasions, they have done a few orders later in the year around the September time if I remember correctly. I think the Sledge bass had an order window towards the latter part of last year. Same with the White Stingray Classic the year before I believe? If you are looking for a PDN, or Special Edition Bongo, you may have to look used or wait until the next window is open. 3 of my 4 Bongo's were special orders and they are very hard to find and rare. With my BFR Roasted Neck Bongo, only 4 or 5 were made in the 4H configuration. With my Dargies Delight II, I don't know how many were made of it but I have heard numbers of around 10 were made. With my PDN Honey Roasted 4 HHp, it was the only one made in that configuration. These basses are harder to come by because typically the Premier dealers only order what the customers order during the one month window. Sometimes they might order extra of something but then you will be at their mercy as to what they have left over and may not be able to get exactly what you want.

You might get lucky and find what you're looking for at one of EBMM's larger dealers like Bass Central or GC's Platinum site.

Good luck with your search.

Hello Lefty,

You may be in luck as we are in the midst of a PDN run called the Sparkle Select Series. You missed out on the green, but I suspect that another color will be announced at some point in the future. Watch the Music Man home page and this forum for an announcement.

You can get a list of Premier dealers from the Music Man website. You can order a PDN directly from them.

Good Luck.

Gotcha, thanks, all.

I got my heart set out on a single H Bongo 5-string, so finding that in any of the special edition (and left-handed) will probably be impossible. So that's why I was wondering when is the next PDN edition coming out. . . I see that the Sledge series and the sparkle green are pretty recent, so I'm then guessing any new PDN series won't be announced for a while, no?

Lastly, what's the deal with the BFR models, were those produced already and won't come back, or they will keep doing those every few years?

Thanks

Leftybongo... Your guess is as good as ours for the next ordering window for PDN instruments or what will be different about them for that matter. I would try drumcityguitarland.com . They typically have a good selection of lefties and may possibly have what your looking for on order. JOSH
