Not at all an ugly duckling, looks just great as it is & doesn't need a flame maple top, fancy inlays or any other over-the-topness.
Just like the Strat is a beautiful guitar design and has never looked good when over pimped

Now, that may be true to some of us - but what I'm waiting for the tone of an alder body with the mahogany tone black and a maple cap (which looks absolutely stunning, BTW) - that is something one can not get from the standard silhouette or silhouette special. You can only understand this compairing the unplugged tone of the 20-th silo with the standard silo - there is a huge difference in tone, especially when it comes to sustain and overtones.

This doesn't mean the silhouette special is bad - not at all!!! It's just the 20-th is so good (and it doesn't have fancy BFR inlays) - and the BFR Silhouette/ Ssilhouette Special will be as well.

On a side note: I dream of a BFR SSS Silo with a gorgeous quilt maple top with a body-bracing a la silhouette 20-th/BFR Albert Lee in see-through white or very light blue - that would look- and surely sound - so good to me!

I'm sure the 20th is awesome (though doesn't exist for me) but it's a totally different animal to the SS.....mahogany tone block, maple cap and HH pickups. Far more LP than Strat to use a worn out comparison. Not sure how you can add these things to a SS without losing its inherent simplicity.

You win in terms of sound - and that is what matters to me (and I totally dig the maple tops in terms of looks as well). I've tried both the standard and the BFR Albert Lee - and the tone block/maple cap combo surely makes the sound quite a bit more deep, "noble" and 3-D, without loosing the quack a bit. So it doesn't only work for the "LP-like" Music Mans (20-th, Petrucci).

BTW, as an advocate of the 20-th silo I would have to say it does have an array of quirky, funky single-coil-like tones to it - just turn the volume down, and hear the Humbuckers turning to singles:)

Yes. it deffinitely is a BFR inlay. But I somehow do not believe that this is the "official version" of a BFR silhouette - looks more like a Namm one off to me. And anywayy - it doesn't have single coils...

If EBMM offers up a Silo BFR like this with a Piezo option and different colors (not a fan of the gold)...I'm all there! It's like the best of all worlds for me. I love the silo body, I love the simple HH setup, I love the 3-way switch like that used on the 20th, and I love the idea of having Piezo added to the mix.

Offer up a few different solid color options (like some of the awesome colors just launched) and I'll give Mr. Dubaldo a call today :D

Sorry Bro, what you see is whats gonna be offered, as is from what I gather. Thats the nature of the BFR's, they make something special like this, it's been referred to as "The Gold Finger", it's very cool that's for sure.

Hey maybe they should call it the "Gold Digger"!!! Hahahahahahaha

Oh well. I do think it's a very cool looking guitar overall. Gold is just not my overall cup-of-tea...BUT seeing it in person may change my mind.

They have to sound great, otherwise Big Poppa, Dudley and many other honorable craftsmen would have never put those PUs into this BFR.

The Official name is actually the "Ball Family Reserve Gold Roller Silhouette" .

Does it come with an Aston Martin DB-5 and a pinstripe suit???

That is one SUPER SEXY guitar - the more I see it - the more I want it........

Great work guys, can't wait for it to hit the shelves!
