I'd let him sign it anywhere he wants.

And why just stop at Luke?

I had Paul Gilbert sign my backplate. Later, you can get a new one for your guitar and frame the signed on. Put in on your wall. :D

I have the Zinky Superfly head. I bought the 2x12 because I thought that on the few occassions that I get to play out that I could take this smaller set up. Zinky makes really cool sounding gear and I have only played this one in my jam room at home. It sounds good but it's not a 4x12 which is an unfair comparision. I actually bought a Mesa Recto-verb to use out as it mostly just Blues Jams.

I like the Zinky and have bought a G-major to get some delay and some occassional preset effects, but haven't rigged it all up yet. The Zinky is midi controllable and I got a Ground Control on eBay to set it all up. I should spend more time on lessons than gear,,,, but OH well.

My personal choice would be to have an artist sign the inside of the backplate to the trem cavity. The sig is going to fade anywhere on the guitar. One might even rub it off with one's clothes, arms, hands, sweat, whatever. If it's on the inside of the backplate, well...I won't have that rubbing off problem. Plus, it's hidden from view (after one screws the backplate back on), which is a big plus to me, because I prefer to keep the stock appearance of my guitars as much as possible. That's just me. So, I've got an autographed guitar. The autograph is protected, and it's hidden, which I like. I like knowing that the autograph is there, but I don't want to look at it all the time. And, I don't care if anyone else knows about it. So, no reason to show it to anyone.

The other plus of having the backplate signed is that you won't have to carry the guitar or leave it anywhere. Just carry the backplate in your back pocket, jacket pocket, or something.

Here's a picture of what I had done when I had JP sign the inside of my backplate.

I would have him sign the trem cover then order a new one from SLO to take the signed ones place.

I was going to joke that Luke would sign it on the 'guitaint'...

That may be a little risqué for the forum, but I think Lucious would laugh if he read it.. so that's why I'm going ahead with it. :D
