Where to put suggestions?

What is the right place to send suggestions for products or product improvements to?

Is it ok to place it on the forum, or will that be frowned upon (and flamed upon)? Maybe there's already a collections somewhere but I've not seen it.

Seriously, some companies (e.g. Apple) do have web forms for their suggestions. However, I'd prefer to get it directly to the right person, and possibly have some creative exchange on an idea. That would be
