I have some "lefty JP7 money" to burn, but no Colin. I might have to drive up and pay him a visit.

I'm sure he'll get back to you soon..
Buying via Colin is always sOoooOooOOOoOOOOo smooth. I'm sure he'll hook you up :)

I found this on his website;

Firstly apologies to those who have emailed us recently and haven't received a response. We have been overwhelmed with emails and can't keep up with demand. We will get to you soon.

So to make amends we are having a sale for April and May. Check out what's in stock and you may notice that we have a few surprises...

Hi Guys,

I spoke to Colin a few days ago. He's had some stuff going on that he had to take of.

He's got one of my guitars on order! (that's not the thing he's got to take cafe of, by the way).

(edit: Hows my olive-gold Luke going, BP? :p)

Don't know but it seems the only dealer that is regularly here, is Pete. DaveB, Colin and the dealer from South Carolina seem to have decided not to frequent as much or anymore. So something has made them go away......................

Daveb is still about - he is a very busy man running more than just the Machinehead business.
He does a lot of work unseen e.g. helping arrange the backline and other stuff for the knucklehead bash thrown by Blind Lemon.

Yah Franric, I wonder what that would be??

Wow he's selling PRS's now, Colin seems like the type that sells only products that are quality and that he believes in. He's a good guy, I hope all is well. :)

Yeah, that's very true, having meet and talked to the guy, he's seems like the kind of guy where he wouldn't sell anything that he wouldn't play himself.

I hope everything is alright.

Scott.

Hello and thanks for the kind words. I guess when Sterling Ball (who I really admire and am grateful that he even knows who I am) starts a thread asking where am I then I guess I’d better come clean.

Normally I don’t post private stuff about myself or my family on the internet because I’m really protective of them, but since I view many of you guys here family I’d better explain. And I’ll explain in 2 parts.

Me Personally – My family consists of two beautiful girls aged 5 & 8 an 83 year old father in law and until 2 months ago the love of my life my wife. And without disclosing too much info she walked out on us all leaving me to explain to the girls why mummy isn’t here anymore. Let me say that if you don’t understand mental illness (like myself) you will be shocked how it can turn a beautiful person into a mess before your very eyes. In short I’m struggling trying to keep this family going while dealing with a broken heart.

Guitar Planet – This has been a wonderful experience on many levels. The reason I started it was I love Ernie Ball Music Man guitars period. Always have and always will. Yes, I was frustrated that I could never find them (this was before the internet and EBay) so when the opportunity arose to become a dealer I set some goals. Some I achieved some have been unachieved but I loved the very small blip I had on the EBMM radar. I got to meet some great people not only in Australia but also around the world including Mr. Sterling Ball. He has been very kind to me behind the scenes with some great advice and yes, even some well deserved discipline. Going to both factories was an incredible experience with some even greater stories except the mugging of course ;). My goal was never to be the biggest or make a lot of money but help make these guitars readily available here in Oz.
I have met (and even converted a small few) many loyal knuckleheads down here. My goal was to treat them the way I’d want to be treated if I was in their shoes. Hopefully I did that. A wise business man once said “You put the customer first......you put the customer first......repeat until you get it.” I hope they all felt that they were treated that way.

Anyway last week I closed my Music Man account with the Australian importer as my family needs me more than ever and I can’t even cope with the amount of emails I receive each day (it’s staggering how many I get). Please be assured those emails will be passed on to a reputable dealer if I can find the right one (I think I have) and they will look after you I promise. You will get the right deal and customer service I promise you that. I also have some stock that will be going at cost price if you guys are interested? I’d love to write more but I just can’t at the moment I’m totally out of fuel.

Anyway if it’s ok with you BP I’d like to continue as a Knucklehead? (Remember I was a fan of these instruments before I became a dealer and will remain one), although I feel I failed with my goal of helping Australia to get to know about these fantastic instruments. I had even just started to organize Guitar Planet videos which were going to be informative but slightly entertaining videos showcasing every MM model. But I’ve enjoyed it all.
Also a quick reply to the Paul Reed Smith guitars on my site, yes I bought a few and even kept one for myself. But I’m not going down that road. If there was 2 companies that made Gibson and Fender pull their socks up in the manufacturing process it has been Music Man and PRS. That is fact period.

Thanks to the many close friends (Rob and Simon especially) that have called me continually to help me thru this hard time. And thanks to the other Knuckleheads that clogged up my message service telling me about this thread ;). Now can we get back to talking about guitars please. How about that double neck Y2D? yoswer!!!!!! Maybe a Casey Lee Ball auction for the second one that must exist?
And one last thing Please support your local Music Man store, please.

Regards and Thank you
Colin Mctaggart

Ah wow. I'm so soso sorry to hear about your misfotune. I hope things work out for you and your little girls in these tough times. Family first my friend.
It's a shame i won't get to deal with you on a business level, as you've been highly regarded as the best Oz dealer, but i guess we'll still see you on this great forum.
And who knows, maybe in the future you might reopen your dealership.
My heart goes out to your and your family!

Colin,

All my best wishes to you and the family sir, putting customer first is one thing, putting family first is a dad's only priority (Dad of 2 myself) I can't for a nonsecond being to understand any of your pain but I take my hat of to you for going on day after day, it can't be easy, but those girls will thank you for not giving up.

I'm thousands of miles away but if you need anything, let me know - can I send you a couple of bucks to keep you going? - It's not much I know but...

You're a standup guy, and was always nice to trade posts with you, hang in there.
