Sorry to hear that Colin.
All the best to you and your situation.
I understand that you've got a lot of extra work ahead of you, but am confident you will be okay and will be the proper example for your children.

Take good care Colin. Take it easy with what you are going thru now. Not easy to do, but you know THIS family behind you. Looking forward to see you around here!

Colin,

First off my post was not to intrude on your personal life or make you have to talk about your current life situation. Couple of things...

First off we aren't going to accept your cancellation. There is no reason on earth why you have to cancel. Lets just close for spring break and try to not to make any more changes in your life. Just put a "Gone Fishing with Big Poppa" sign on the front page.
The inclination is to try to fix everything when the floor falls out underneath you. The reality is there is nothing to fix here. You are a plus for us and if you have to do something else for awhile...then do it. You will have a home to come back to as far as your company. You can have a dealer handle new biz for you and Im sure that some knuckleheads will answer some emials while we are out landing the big Tuna.

I am getting slightly smarter in that I cannot pretend to be in your shoes or tell you what is going to happen. I can tell you that George Harrison said it best "All things Must Pass" I am qualified in this area. When they told me Casey was terminally ill and we went through the eight operations before age six and the intensive care where the tubes coming out of him weighed more than him....That passed. Ask Robelinda...Here is Casey playing his classical guitar at a wedding.......

He can be found about three mornings a week at the La Quinta Coffee Company playing for tips

It passed. He still has health issues....

I know that you know some of my story. I do not mean to trade on Casey but I understand.
Now what I can tell you my Friend....and I mean the friend part. Dont oversteer. Keep the car on the road. Control what you can control. I cannot give any advice (Oh wait...you didnt ask for this!)on your wife other than to say that even tatoos arent permanent. THere is a good chance that with the proper care, love and support that things will work out. Remember you guys invented the boomerang.

As far as selling other guitars...I love PRS and I love choices and I think that you should look forward to your journey. If you listen to this rambling old goat you may come back with a different perspective or angle and a better balance in your life.

Hug your daughters for me. Enjoy every moment you can until you find the bong.

You know my email....use it if you need too anytime.

THis place has proven to be a crazy support system with people who really care.

You are a very clever and kind man and I wish you the best.

Colin,

I cannot imagine what you must be going through...bless you for being there for your daughters and father-in-law. I have so much respect for the Dads out there that take over parenting responsibilities, I don't think they get nearly as much credit as they should. I wish you all the resilience and strength that you will need to get through this tough time. I also respect and appreciate the time you've spent selling and promoting Music Man and Ernie Ball products, its great to have an expert who has such refined taste and who knows so much about our stuff. When it gets less complicated for you, or whenever you can, we'd love to have you come back. Hang in there, bud.

Big hugs,
Beth

Colin,

I'm very sorry to read of your situation. You have the support of Knuckleheads everywhere, and I wish for better days for you and your family soon.

Music, Love and this forum with the unique, eclectic mix of characters has been it's own kind of therapy for me during rough times...I hope you can find added strength through the powers of all 3.

All the best!

Hi Col,

I've said this in an email, but I hope everything goes well for you.

When things perk back up, we'll definitely go out for that beer!

Cheers,

Jamie.

Hey Colin,

Very sorry to read about the situation you're in. Stay strong, my man!

And like Poppa said, take a break away from the Music Man deal. Once you get your ducks in a row, then come back to us. It's guys like you who care about the product and customer service that we can't afford to lose.

Colin:

You are one of us, completely and without any caveats whatsoever. First and most importantly, I hope your personal situation can be resolved somehow. But no matter how that turns out, I will give you my best advice: It's never too late to have a happy childhood. It seems so simple on the surface - and maybe it is, maybe it is - but when you really think about it, it gets deeper.

I owe Tom Robbins a debt of gratitude for that advice. I have taken it to heart along the way, when things seemed bleak and when I could remember to be playful, it did help. I have been in some bleak situations, too. None exactly like yours, but bleak nonetheless. And I can tell you this: sometimes, when you least expect it and when you believe you least deserve it, life will surprise you. Be open to the happy accident.

Take a deep breath, do what you have to do (which is sometimes more complex than it should be, especially with kids) and don't ever forget that you are amongst friends here.

I can't offer you much, but I can say that I consider you a friend and there are a lot of other people here who feel the same way. Keep us in mind and use us if you can.

Colin,

I've always said family first, everything else can come later...and it sounds like you are doing what is right when you need to. I wish you and your family well on that detour.
