I haven't played an olp petrucci, but l have played an olp guitar, and there is no way olp is as good as an EBMM, this dude us on drugs or something, or some beginner, or just some young punk.

If anything, we have talked about this one before. I think it would make a great beginner guitar. But, it is not even on the same planet as an original EBMM JP!

With that said, if you can play, it doesn't matter who's name is on the axe. I am sure JP, Satch, Vai, Morse....etc could make an OLP sing like a bird.....

But for quality, you can't touch the original.

Unless the guy actually owns one of each, he can't make an honest comparison.

I could take some guitar that I own, and I'm used to playing, and thus it is comfortable for me. Then I could compare it to a guitar that is 100 times better, that I've only tried once in a music store, and I might think that my own played better.

But hey, if this kid (and it can only be a kid saying this) thinks that his OLP is as good as an EBMM, leave him to his delusion. After all, some people still believe that the earth is flat...

Actually I did not tell you the whole story. It starts with he used to have a very expensive LP until he dropped it at a gig. Then he wrecked another expensive guitar at another gig. After the two mishaps he decided to never buy an expensive axe again. Now he has two PRS SE's and a OLP JP which he claims are as good, if not better than the more expensive sig models. So, he will never spend big bucks on a guitar ever again. I guess I would have no choice but to make a claim like that if I kept dropping and wrecking 1200 - 2500 guitars. I might even go as far as to try to convince myself that the less expensive guitars are as good as the better ones too!

It takes talent to drop guitars while playing..even if you're doing funky stuff while playing.... That just means you should invest in some hefty straps and/or strap locks. Doesn't take much intelligence to come to that conclusion

It's simple, he's trying to convince himself that OLPs are better

OLP Petruccis come in beginner packages... now if the OLP was as good as the EBMM version I doubt it would come in a starter pack

This guys a moron, ditch the OLP (not the PRS cause they rock), buy a good 40 dollar strap (Canadian dollars), get some strap locks (theyre like 2 freakin dollars, not that big of an investement), buy a EBMM Petrucci and he'll be normal...and if he drops it still then he shouldnt have the right to own a guitar

So this guy can render a guitar unusable by simply dropping it at a gig? Apparently he's never heard of people like Mr. Psychotic Chihuahua.

I agree with him though, he should not buy any more expensive guitars until he learns that they can be repaired, or perhaps even played in a maimed condition.

Heck, look at Vai's EVO axe! That thing looks like it's been to war, and yet it plays.. and it's an inferior brand to boot! ;)

I can only speak for the Axis and the OLP version of the Axis. But they aren't even made to the same spec. How can you compare them when the only thing they have in common are the body and headstock shapes?

I've read comments like the original post and just laugh. OLP's are a decent value for the price. But people are so excited about he possibility of finding a real gem for only $200 that they convince themselves that it's just as good or even better than the original. It's like a secret only they know and they're sharing it with the rest of the world.

If you buy an OLP you're getting a decent $200 guitar. That's it.

I also agree with the comment about dropping guitars. The only thing I can imagine is that he's breaking the angled headstocks off of the necks. Otherwise, it's very hard to destroy a guitar by dropping it from 2-3 feet.
