Like many others, although I have a great deal of respect for most EBMM artist, it was really the guitar that inspired me to buy one!!!

Mr EVH is the reason I play EBMM guitars. I loved the album F.U.C.K. when it came out, and loved the tones he was getting. I bought my purple EVH, and have since bought 4 more (well Axis guitars). Without EVH I would not be playing EBMM.

+1. I don't know what company or brand I would have wound up with (I guess Gibson, since I'm in Nashville).

I remember seeing Van Halen's Live Right Here, Right Now DVD a loooong time ago and thinking, "Wow, that guitar sounds really really really good." This was before I even started playing guitar!

Then a few years later when I started, I watched the video again and looked up what it was.. and saw that it was made by EBMM. At the time, I thought they only made strings and books! I saw a Musician's Friend catalogue and happened to come across the guitar. I remember thinking, "Wow, this is expensive," and moved on.

Fast forward a couple of years and Eddie's out of the picture, and John Petrucci's my new favorite guitar player. I played a Mystic Dream Petrucci in New Orleans right before I was to go on stage for the Guitarmageddon competition and I begged my father to purchase it. Of course, he didn't have the cash.. but I fell so hard for that guitar. I wanted it to be mine.

Fast forward about 4 or so years, and I'm in college. I purchased my first Petrucci.. and now I'm about to purchase my first Axis this month. I love this family.

For me it was a few things. Seeing the Van Halen Right Here Right Now dvd in the mid 90's- i thought the axe he was using looked amazing and sounded even better! But then over the next few years i read some reviews of various EBMM guitars in the UK guitar mags- not much internet back then. When i really needed a gigging guitar that was just super quality but not $10,000 i stumbled upon the Luke, and just went ahead and got one without ever seeing or playing one before- i wasnt upset when it came! My whole guitar playing world changed!

Well during the late 80's l saw a couple of bass players playing ebmm bass', but l didn't know what brand they were, then when Steve Morse started using his, l became more aware of them, but it wasn't until EVH started using ebmm guitars that they started to appear in guitar stores here in Australia, the EVH was a great guitar (the Axis is better imo), l always enjoyed playing it, then Luke came out with his signiture model, and being a Luke fan l tried his out and absolutely loved it, and bought one years later. And l have never bought another brand of guitar, except the 2 Peavey Wolfgangs that l bought, but they don't even compare too my EBMM guitars, and never played them and sold them not long after buying them.

Cheers,

Scott.

I've been a Steve Lukather fan for decades, so years ago when I heard he had a signature guitar I became curious about EBMM. For years, I couldn't justify the cost of a Luke, let alone find one in a local shop to try. So I spent some years reading reviews on them, listening to Luke play them in Toto etc, browsing discussion groups etc. I new I had to get one.

In the end, I decided I would take a risk and get one without trying it. The reputation of EBMM and the Luke was so good...and I knew that any EBMM had to be at least 1000000 times better than anything else I own. So I figured it was a risk worth taking. Got the guitar (with Colin's assistance!), and it exceeded my expectations!

You got a JP for your birthday? I barely get anything, and close to nothing from my parents. But congratulations anyway.

Now my story! Dream Theater's been my favorite band for a few years now, and John Petrucci's been my favorite guitarist. I loved his tone on the more recent albums, so I really wanted to try one out at a store. I've also been a Van Halen fan for years before that, ever since I was born, because my parents are into that kind of music. I remember seeing a Van Halen DVD that my dad got from NetFlix, but I can't remember which one. That was probably my first exposure to EBMM guitars. I've also known about the popular basses for a while, but that's besides the point. The only store around me with EBMMs is Guitar Center, and they RARELY ever have them. So I asked my dad to take me to Guitar Center one day in early 2007 because I was bored. I went to look at some pedals, because I was just beginning my "collection" of pedals. Then, sitting right there, staring me in the face, all ready and plugged in to the rig of Boss pedals through a Marshall amp, was a Rosewood Axis Super Sport. It had humbuckers, not the MM90s, no piezo, and a fixed bridge. I didn't even play it right away. I just looked at it. It was so beautiful...Anyway, I immediately played the main riff from "Damage Control" by John Petrucci. I was blown away. The feel and sound were top notch. It remains, to this day, the greatest guitar I have ever played.

The only other EBMM I played was the next time I went to GC. It was a Trans Blue ASS with maple fretboard, MM90s, matching headstock, no piezo. I didn't quite like it as much as the Rosewood one, but it was still great. Probably the third best guitar I've ever played. The second being an Ibanez JEM, no offense to anyone lol.

I really dug Steve Morse and saw him live years ago on the High Tension Wires tour and really liked the tone he got, but kinda forgot what guitar he was playing. Albert Lee has always been a huge factor in my music tastes and knew he played a EBMM.

I went to my local EBMM shop to try out a Al, but Albert had just done a clinic a week before (dam I wish I knew about it!) and the shop had sold the four Al's they had instock that night.

Sat down with a SM instead and fell inlove with the guitar and purchased it on the spot. About 9 months later, went back to the shop and they had a few Al's in, sat down and played a P90 and a SSS version and walked out with a SSS AL as well, now my #1 guitar.

Went back a month or so ago to the shop (really good guys, but about a 1.5 hour drive) with cash in hand to check out a SM Y2k or a Luke, but they were really down on stock of EBMM stuff did not have those in stock, but did have a BFR Pet and a 20th Silo but ended up walking out with a Martin D28 that had tone to die for. I'll have to wait for my next bonus check for a Luke or Y2K...

EVH made me do it.

It first started many years ago with my own Frankenstrat which has since gone through more changes than David Bowie, a great learning ground. Then i picked up a Wolfgang which itself is a very good guitar. However, it was EVH playing the Axis that gave me the EBMM bug.

I can now categorically say that , in my mind, i have the very best of both worlds.

Many moons ago (in college), the bassist in my band had a Stingray and that was the first I ever heard of EBMM. I just assumed they only made bass guitars, but I loved that bass. So, here's to John "Nobody".

A couple of years later, I read a guitar magazine completely focused on Eddie Van Halen. A good portion of that magazine focused on the development of the EBMM EVH guitar. The article impressed me and I remember thinking how cool of a company EBMM was.

I've always played larger hollow-body jazz guitars -- but I told myself at that point that if I ever get a solid body electric I'd give EBMM my consideration. Well, the day has come. After playing several models (EBMM and others)...I chose the Axis SS. AND I CAN'T WAIT for it to be delivered :)

The first artist that got me interested in Music Man was JP. I first heard Falling Into Infinity while I was in my senior year of high school (2004). I immediately fell in love with JP's tone. Soon after, I purchased the Live Scenes From NY dvd and was very intrigued by the guitars he was playing. Coincedentally, my local GC at the time had a MD JP with all the options. I played it through a Triaxis/2:90 setup and was very impressed. At the time I still loved my Ibanez guitars, but I thought I might like an Ernie Ball someday. Jump to 2007 and thats when I got my first Ernie Ball guitar, a MD JP6. As much as I loved it, the body seemed a bit small to me, and you guys know the rest (owned two 20th Silo's, then got the BFR JP) and I've never been happier. I never thought I'd be able to afford a Musicman JP, let alone my sweet Ruby BFR JP. :)

I saw Paul Landers of Rammstein with a silver Axis, and it sparked my interest. I ended up getting the OLP Axis copy with a floyd, and then a Sub 1... now I'm hooked!

I never heard of EBMM before JP, was still just starting guitar around then...
Wasn't crazily into gears, but as time went on, I was looking into getting a nice guitar, EBMM JP seemed to be the holy grail for me. The price kept me from taking the plunge, never ever thought that I would own one...

Was about to place my order for a MD JP6, then came the SCORE DVD, and saw this awesome JP in a burst finish! I googled it but can't really find anything, then I thought of dropping by the EB site for more info, nothing. Then I thought to myself, maybe the forum have some info on it. I was so darn lucky, the day I found out about this forum, is the day that BP and gang posted pictures of the JP prototype, I immediately postponed my order! Then came the tortures and NAMM, did not even need to give it a second thought, and got myself a nice BFR JP :D

No one really inspired me.

I've seen and known about Music Man guitar since Leo era. But at that time I was only a teenager who can't afford any good guitar. So I bought a cheap Maya guitar instead. Even if I had money back then, I'll buy either F****r or G****n.

Many years passed, I'd stoped playing guitar for a very long time.
Until one day, I read a thread about - which guitar for a small hand player. Someone mentioned music man guitar. So I think - well let's give it a try.

I bought a Luke and wow........ It's just fantastic.
It make me start playing guitar again

After that I've addicted to EBMM guitar and start collecting EBMM guitars.
(Oh by the way, I've got another BALL coming !) :)

In my country , people only thought about G****n , F****R or I*****Z, they don't give much attention to EBMM. There's no ADs in magazine , no marketing activity like guitar clinic or something like that.

But I don't care about what other peple think, I know I love EBMM guitar and will continue playing them. :)

Oh Boy...can of worms time!
Well, when EVH unveiled his new sig axe I said : "WTF is that!? A tele/LP blend?"
Then my buddy bought one. I thought he was nuts! No way that a "Musicman" was worth that much $...
Then I played it, And again, And again.
The neck was comfy, the body was sexy (fit just right) and the tone of that neck pickup was unworldly.

Long story short...
I now own 3 Axis. I have my eye on a silo. And I think I've fallen in man-love with Jon and BP! (well, 2 out of 3 ain't bad)
