Which bass would you get signed?

OK, I was thinking about this last night, Lets say you have 2 basses. One really bad, one really good. This will be the case for me in about a week. If you meet you bass hero, flea, Les, whoever, and you could get either signed, which would you chose. If you get the bad one signed then you have a killer autograph on your crappy squire p-bass, and if you get you nice one signed then you would have the dilema of not wanting to ever touch your brand new great sounding bass. This is even more of a dilema with me because I am not about to drop another 1400 on another really nice bass just because I got an autograph. HMMMM

I guess in my case I'd go with the crappy bass, but that's just me, I need a nice one to play. How bout you guys?

I thought I'd also point out that I have not yet actually had this dilema, but I kinda hope I do someday.

In my case,

If I knew I was going to meet someone I admired ahead of time, I would take off my pickguard, have he or she sign the body under the pickguard, then screw a clear pickguard over it for protection!

It depends on who it is and what bass for me. I own 3 autograhed basses:

Washburn Rudy Sarzo Prototype autographed by Rudy

EBMM Bongo 4 HH autographed by BP & Dudley (my first EBMM as a dealer)

Lakland Decade autographed by Bob Glaub, Jerry Scheff, Duck Dunn, Jerry Scheff & Darryl Jones.

got the headstock on my Bongo signed by Jeff Berlin, got Victor W. to sign my strap..... the Berlin sig. is cool 'cause it totally gets people going "who is that?" , "did you sign your own bass!!??"

+1. I've never understood the whole hero-worship thing. They're just people, doing a job that involves being a public figure.

But if you must get a signature, why does it make sense to have your hero sign an instrument that has nothing whatsoever to do with them? I could see a bass that the guy actually used getting signed, or possibly a "signature model" bass (e.g. Modulus Flea signed by Flea), but your own bass?

The Bongos signed by BP and Dudley make sense because they're the guys behind the design. Would you have BP sign your Squier?
