I've decided to change my live rig completely! The only thing that's staying are my EBMMs of course :)
The only thing I'm still not sure about is which chorus and delay pedal I should buy... so give me your recommendations please! :)

My chorus took me years to find... Now I got it, and I'm not switching. It's the best I've heard, and the most practical. Completely portable: BOSS CE-2

For delays, the Digitech Digidelay works for me, so I don't bother looking any further... Something else you might want to consider, is the new BOSS DD-7.

i'd suggest the tc electronics nova delay, for delay obviously. every bit as good as the time factor yet cheaper.

a good, transparent chorus pedal is harder to find. i think anyway.

Swear by a Boss DC-3 Digital Dimension for that clear, spatial, non-wavering chorus sound, and a MXR Carbon Copy for 660ms of analog delay here. ;)

The time factor is a bit too expensive for me, but TC nova delay is something I could afford... but the thing I noticed instantly is that time factor has a true analog bypass and the TC nova doesn't. So does the bypass on the TC nova change the sound a lot?

Hi Ivan,

I had the chance to try the Nova Delay in front of my Diezel Einstein, as well as in it's FX-loop. I did not have the impression of a mighty change of the sound. I tried it with and without a Lehle true bypass looper.
Cool pedal - definitely worth a try, whereas - lots of options for a stomper, cool for studio, but to take advantage of them all, this thingy should be midi programmable :D

...BTW: Same goes for the Nova Delay !

I just didn't buy them because I run Midi and use a TC rack unit...

Cheers from Bavaria

I use a Boss dd-20 for my delay needs. Sure, it's not an eventide, but do you think that girl in the 3rd row cares?

As for a chorus, I think it brings up too many bad memories of awful 80's guitar tones. No matter how you use it, it will sound dated. Have you considered a vibe? Similar to a chorus, but much cooler.

I have TC Electronic G Major in my current setup, but I feel it changes my sound too much (unfortunately, for the worse)... so I'd like to get some stompboxes that are as transparent as possible in bypass mode (a true bypass is obviously preferable, but it's not a must as long as the bypass is transparent enough)

I need chorus mostly for the clean tones!
And the girl in the 3rd row was never really my sound benchmark anyway, because I'd definitely be using cheaper guitars if she was :D (and btw I prefer to have them in the first row anyway! :D)

If you like analog chorus, try a Meistersinger from Jacques (Jacques Stompboxes).
It's quite cheap for an analog effect (160 € with the shipping) and the sound is really good.
The sound is warm.
Of course if you are looking for the "digital chorus sound" forget it.

OK, I'll go along with you on the girl (wait, that doesn't sound right...), but if you're going to effect a clean tone, wouldn't you rather [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g3dle_L3l0I"]YouTube - Roger Waters - Breathe (In The Air) (live)[/ame]over [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PnLMFS5-i-o"]YouTube - The Police Live In Rio - Every Breath You Take[/ame]?

Funny - this was and is exactly my problem with the g-Major as well. While the G-Force had an excellent bypass, the G-major craps out the sound to much for me.

"Build you own clone"

I've heard really good things about them and have got the 10 band EQ on it's way to me.

How about getting something like the Musicom Lab looper/switcher, then you could use whichever effect you like (including your G-Major) and not be concerned with how they colour the tone when not in use. Obviously, the unit is also a midi controller. Click the picture to go to Musicom Lab's home page.

I'd like to find some pedals that I like first... There's no point in buying a looper/switcher if I still don't have the gear I'll use it with.
The problem with G Major is that it colors my sound too much whether it's on bypass or not, so this looper switcher would take care of the bypass, but I'd like to find a couple of nice sounding pedals that don't color my sound too much apart from the effect that they're supposed to deliver and then build from there...

What about trying a Rocktron Xpression? I don't own one nor have I tried one, yet, but I have read that it does not color your sound and the delays and chorus are very nice...................It seems to me that the Rocktron owners are happier than the TC owners.

I've loving the Boss DD-20 in my loop. The tape and analog modes are great, as is the modulation delay. I'm actually using the modulation delay in place of my chorus, it's finding it's way into most of my songs. Only minor gripe is I wish it had more than 4 presets.

It costs almost as much as TC Nova Delay. Do you think it's as good or maybe better?
I think my favorite so far would be the TC Nova delay... but I'll have to go try it out!

Ivan, the Eventide Time Factor is definitely worth saving for. I have one and I get WAY more mileage out of it than just delay. Other effects I use it for are reverb, ring modulator, thickener, chorus, and pretty much anything else I can make it do. I also made a patch which replicates my old Boss DM-3 analog pedal. Sounds almost exact it's unreal.

I was just reading about the Nova Delay and from a features viewpoint, the Eventide kills it. You get a looper and FOUR times as many user presets spaces. Plus, Eventide keeps making upgrades to the firmware which is updated by a cable into the Time Factor. On top of that, the TF is midi compatible and you can stick an expression pedal in the back and go ballistic with sounds.
