Heyyyy everybody! Another poll for some changes I'm looking into. I thought I was not going to swap the 20th Silo PUPs, but I just want to try an Air Norton and Air Zone in this geetar. It sounds great as it is, but a little change does not hurt. I remember having an Air Norton in my Ibandeuce, and it is one of my favourite PUPs. Soooooooo, I want to hear some opinions, wether I should go:
1) ALL Cream (which I'm really leaning towards)
2) Zebra (black and cream)
3) Black
4) Some kind of other funky colors maybe?

I think the ALL Cream PUPs will look GREAT w/ the Caramel Burst finish and also it will match nicely with the Natural Headstock. I remeber the Cream PUPs on the proto of the Y2D, and it looks freakin cool on that one.

I don't really get that either, but then again I stuck EMGs in my AL. It's your guitar and you should put whatever you want on it. Personally, I love the chrome (nickel?) covers so I think if you can find 'em for the pickups you want, that's what you should do.

Failing that, cream would probably look best.

WOW you are nuts, one sounds great with the PUPS that are in it and what a way to lower the value a rare guitar:(

Leave the alone. EBMM does a amazing job selecting/voicing their pickups for their guitars. Remember its a Ball not the other "brand"

Why is that so crazy??? I know for a fact that I am NEVER selling this Ball, so I dont really care about the value, except personal value. And it's not like I am going to be making holes in her or re-finishing the geetar. I'm going to keep the original PUPs, so that if I want to put em back I can. EMGs would look kind of weird in this geetar, but than again NorM might do that :). I just want to hear the different tone with different PUPs and more output.
And of course EBMM guys do an amazing job with everything on the geetars, but people have personal prefferances.

I think it's an interesting idea.

Maybe someone can photoshop the pickup changes for you.

Keep in mind, though, that the PUs on the 20th have a different mounting screw layout than the usual DiMarzio PUs (3 screws vs. 2), so you'd either have to mod the mounting ring or the replacement PU for it to work... Personally, I'd stick with the Virtual PAFs, though.

If you are dead set on a PU change, you should see if you can fit standard mounting rings to the 20th without any body work... if you can, get cream coloured rings and black PUs.

Cheers

Aesthetically, I'd stay with chrome. I think that on this guitar, it does look the best.

Just my £.02 though.
