Anybody have an experience with this one?

What are your string options for an acoustic bass? Can I use EB Flats on an acoustic to give it more of an upright sound? Or must I use the earthwood rounds?

I don't think the flatwounds would project as much which is a bummer cuz acoustic basses don't project much as it is, so unless you're planning to use it through an amp, it would seem likely that the bass would be too quiet with flatwounds.

I intend to always use it through an amp. "Acoustic" bass are a bit of a misnomer. The size of the bodies are not big enough to properly resonate the long wavelengths of the low pitches...this is why uprights are so big. So how it sounds "umplugged" does not concern me. I just don't want to spend $$$ of a set of flatwounds if they won't work at all.

So...has anybody out there used flatwounds on an acoustic bass???
